Ahman's backup? Davenport or Gado? I think Green will have a nice season, nothing earth shattering but he'll be a very nice RB2 in deep leagues and a solid RB3 in others. But who do you handcuff to him? Any news from Packerland on who's #2? No Davenport pun intended.
Davenport is until he's hurt...which he is as we speak.
My gut tells me that it will be Green, Gado, and Arliss Beach, depending on how Beach looks on Monday night. The coaching staff has said they are going to give him a good, long look on Monday. I would not be suprised to see Davenport cut.

Excuse my ignorance,Davenport cut?! Is he hurt badly or has his Immature attitude caught up with him? Gado was a great story last year, you can't help but root for a kid like that.

An brief IDP question, but more for Packers homers so I'll put here. I'm a Nick Collins owner in a Dynasty league, just wondering what word is out of Green Bay if Collins is set at FS or if they will ever look for him to make the move to SS sometime this year. Perhaps later? I love this guy. How's he doing?
There comes a time when a team needs to weigh dependability much more so than talent. And that time might have arrived for the Packers as they evaluate Najeh Davenport and pare their running backs.
On the hoof, Davenport is bigger, more powerful and just as fast, if not faster than, Arliss Beach and Noah Herron, the other two backs competing for what figures to be one spot behind Ahman Green and Samkon Gado. Also Davenport has often produced when he has played. He rushed for 178 yards in his first pro start. His average per carry over his four years in Green Bay is 4.9. He has averaged 24.1 yards on kickoff returns.
But Davenport can’t seem to stay healthy. He dropped out of practice Tuesday with a hip injury and missed again Wednesday. Earlier in camp, he missed six practices with a calf injury. Since joining the Packers in 2002, he also has missed 25 games. What’s the old saying? “You can’t make the club in the tub.” The Packers need to ponder that as they decide Davenport’s future.

I'll agree. If Davenport wants to stay on the team, he is going to have to get/stay healthy. There is little to no room for them to carry an injured RB, and the only one I could see them waiting on is Green. With Green however, I won't rule out the slimmest of chances of him being let go if things really don't go well for him. I have not heard any rumors of that being discussed, I don't believe it will come to that, and I would be very surprised if it happened. From everything I hear and read is that he's looking fine and will continue to get every opportunity to be the #1. To be realistic though, it's not set in stone just yet, Green has a few more tests to complete, and Monday will be the next one.
After the MNF game, I think we'll be able to get a much clearer view of this situation. It's just real tough to say right now, but I don't think the Packers are going to want to enter the final preseason game still trying to figure out the top of their RB depth chart. I'm expecting/hoping that they put the test to all the other RBs as well.
Beach has become an interesting player. He could very well end up as the #3 behind Green/Gado, but again, this thing isn't over yet and a surprise or two won't catch me too far offguard. Who gets whacked will be decided in preseason game #4, and I won't be shocked if it is Davenport because of his inability to stay healthy.

Ah thats a shame. However I've read in some reports that because of GB's defensive schemes the SS and FS wouldnt be much different in Fantasy Football. Any truth to this? The guy seems like a great leader. And Some FS's, like in Philly, do put up top Fantasy numbers. Is this that type of situation?

Traditionaly, yes, the safties in the system they are running have been equal. You might want to research how the position fared when Bates was DC in Miami to get an idea of how close the numbers might be.Having said that, I too like Collins and think he's going to have the type of year where the national media starts to take notice. (For the very little that's worth...)
