That's nothing new. It's been speculated from the spring.
That and the signing of Woodson(who also only seems willing to do the minimum work required after signing a huge contract) are two of biggest reasons I think GB is still in trouble this year despite upgrading their LB corp.
That's nonsense
Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy acknowledged on Tuesday that a few high-profile absences from this month's voluntary workouts have gotten his attention. Asked about cornerback Charles Woodson, who hasn't been around since the team's minicamp last month, McCarthy said he wanted to see his new star make a bigger commitment to offseason work. "It's not what we prefer, obviously," McCarthy said. "We want everybody here. But we're obviously taking measures to make sure he's ready for training camp."As the Packers began their fourth and final week of organized team workouts, they did so without starters, cornerback Al Harris and cornerback Charles Woodson. In fact, most of the Packers’ secondary was absent on Monday. The team practiced without Harris, Woodson, safety Nick Collins, safety Marviel Underwood, cornerback Mike Hawkins and cornerback Jason Horton. The players don’t seem too worried about the absences, saying that training camp is when attendance means the most.
CB Mike Hawkins, WR Rod Gardner and TE David Martin missed practice. All three were in attendance Friday, and no explanation for their absences was given. Middle LB Nick Barnett missed his second straight practice. CB Charles Woodson, nose DT Ryan Pickett still haven't taken part in any OTA practices. Neither has CB Al Harris, who is boycotting all voluntary workouts. FB Vonta Leach and LB Abdul Hodge returned to practice. NFL Europe WR Chad Lucas and WR Vince Butler watched practice, but didn't participate.
S Nick Collins worked out with the team after missing the first two days of OTAs. However, the top three cornerbacks were missing again. Starters CB Al Harris and CB Charles Woodson missed their third straight day, while CB Ahmad Carroll left after one day. HC McCarthy called Carroll’s absence a “personal matter.”
When the Green Bay Packers open mini-camp on Friday, CB Charles Woodson will be in full action. "My heath is fine and I haven't lost any speed," said Woodson, whose 2005 season ended when a teammate broke his fibula Oct. 23 vs. Buffalo. "I'm completely healed. There was really nothing I could do about that. But as far as my health is concerned now, everything's fine." Woodson looks like he could be finally healthy this year.
The Green Bay Packers announced on Wednesday that they have signed free agent cornerback Charles Woodson to a seven-year, $52 million contract. Woodson spent the 2005 season as a member of the Oakland Raiders.
...... so he's in full health, signs a 52 million dollar deal and then says "wake me up when the workouts are MANDATORY"..... yeah, there's a recipe for success if I've ever heard one.
What's the over/under for the # of games he plays in this season? Or for the length of that contract for that matter?
