Packers Release Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila (1 Viewer)

In leaving the organization, Gbaja-Biamila issued the following statement: "My nine years as a Green Bay Packer have been a blessing that is beyond words. I thank God for bringing me to this first-class organization and first-class community. During my time here, I've built relationships with a number of people in the Packer family. The front office executives, G.M.s, coaches, past and present players, the enormous support and administrative staff plus the greatest fans in football, all have helped make my time here truly special and I am thankful for that. It has been a very positive experience. I was able to build a family here and grow with a community that I call home. Again, I've been truly blessed. I don't know what my football future holds, but one thing I've realized is that football is more than a game - it's about building relationships and changing lives. One of the commitments I've had throughout my career has been to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and that is something that I intend on doing whether on the field or not. God bless the Green Bay Packers!

KGB really hasn't brought much this year, but for a team desperate for a pass rush this really surprises me. They do save some money, but really lose some experience.

I figured he was gone by the end of the year anyway.

Great man, wish him and his family well.

KJB, very impressive departure statement.

He was my first "find" in my early years of playing IDP leagues and he thus holds a special place in my heart!

Godspeed to what seems to be a very good man!

So from this statement I guess we can safely assume that neither Scott Boras nor Drew Rosenhaus is his agent.Well done.

 I'm also a bit surprised by the timing but KGB hasn't been the same for quite some time so the handwriting was on the wall for him. Very classy departure as others have noted. He's a great character guy and he will be missed in that regard.

Probably not much chance that KGB will be on the phone with Jeff Fisher today discussing hunting trips.Thompson has made some really difficult decisions this season, definitely earning his paycheck. Had to be a tough day today at Lambeau parting with a great Packer and great person. I'm sure he'll sign somewhere soon - obviously his huge contract was the issue here, otherwise they would have cut Peprah or Pettway I'd guess.

Very classy, and couldn't contrast more sharply with Favre's exit.

Solid move by the Packers KGB has not done a lot over the last two seasons. He actually was good for a couple 2-3 sack games before he started to show some age.

KGB is and always has been a class act on and off the field. Wish him the best.

He gets his whole salary as he is a vested veteran, only advantage to cutting him money wise is that his cap hit would be this year, freeing more money for the upcoming off-season. Anti-Ted crowd will be screaming that he cut one of the guys that was not his. And allowing his own draft pick to gain a roster spot.Trust me on Packer sites there will be posters stating this as some have felt from year one Ted was out to ruin the Packer franchise, evern thought the team is better now they still believe this.

This offseason the Packers need to find another edge rusher in the draft or free agency.

As a Bears fan I've seen KGB play many times. He was a very good player for the Packers for alot of years. As others have said it was a very classy exit and I wish him nothing but the best.
