Adding depth to their receiving corps and kicking game, the Green Bay Packers Monday agreed to terms with veteran Koren Robinson. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, announced the agreement.

Robinson, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound wide receiver out of North Carolina State, has worked professionally with several individuals currently in the Packers organization, including Thompson.

The sixth-year veteran earned Pro Bowl recognition for the Vikings last season, when he led the NFC and ranked fifth in the league in kickoff returns (26.0 avg., 47 returns, 1,221 yards). In a 24-21 road triumph against the Giants (Nov. 13), he returned a kickoff 86 yards for a touchdown.

Originally selected by Seattle in the first round (ninth overall) of the 2001 NFL Draft, Robinson played his first four years with the Seahawks before signing as a free agent with Minnesota on the eve of the 2005 season. In 71 NFL games, including 57 starts, he has 235 receptions for 3,514 yards (15.0 avg.) and 13 touchdowns. Robinson also has 21 career carries for 114 yards (5.4 avg.) and one TD.

So a town known for it's breweries signs Koren Robinson?

How delicious.

You know you're desperate when...

is he suspended by the NFL for a year? He'd step in as the #2 opposite Driver...

should be, but then, he was cut before that happened and I don't know if the NFL can suspend people who aren't employed by a team.

IN other news, Packers' season officially goes in the crapper.

Wasn't this the sort of heartwarming story when the Vikings took a chance on a guy who was struggling with his personal demons? But what is it now? Because this signing isn't that.

I agree with the notion above--this signing smacks of desperation.

Last I checked Milwaukee was the town for its breweries. Green Bay has paper mills and farming hicks that go to the bars. Dont know if Koren is a paper mill worker or a farm hick but whatever. He is back with Ted Thompson so this could be "a simple favor" for now.At best he will be used as a #4 and KR guy. Maybe PR guy if Woodson does not want to do it.

No it's giving the guy a job. How is this different than a convenience store hiring a troubled kid? Keeps him off the street.

I can't see this guy just stepping in and playing immediately.

Does he have some disciplinary meeting, or some sort of upcoming

suspension to deal with ?

Milaukee has no paper mills or farms. Name one.

 Reading comp down? Initial response was about Green Bay and their breweries. Green Bay is not known for its breweries... quite the opposite. They are known for drinking but not making the drinks. Milwaukee has the breweries.

Papermill Farms on County Line Road - they have great Taffy Apples in October. now be quiet so I can get back to enjoying your avatar.

I can't believe I'm typing this, but is Koren Robinson now worth a free agent pickup in a dynasty league? I could stash him on my roster for a year. Obviously, he's an alcoholic with issues, but what are the chances that he can return and get clean?

Didn't the Vikings do that? How did that work out for him? This guy obviously has bigger fish to fry before he even thinks about football. From the Packers point of view, don't you just sort of have to ask "WTF??"

I lived in Kenosha for a year after the Broncos beat the Pack in the Super Bowl.......the whole damn state was Packer ######ed. #4, isn't that what was said in Minny last year? Koren might be in AA, but the dude is talented, you are aware of GBs talent situation, right?

Is this confirmed? I don't think there is any way Koren is NOT suspended for the year based on the substance abuse policy.

Packers, Robinson agree on two-year deal

Jay Glazer / FOXSports.com

The up-and-down career of former first-rounder Koren Robinson is about to take another up.

FOXSports.com has learned that the Green Bay Packers have agreed to terms on a two-year deal with the troubled receiver. He is expected to sign the actual contract within the next 24 hours.

The contract is believed to have protection in case Robinson's legal problems resurface.

Robinson was released by the Minnesota Vikings in August, just 10 days after he was charged with drunken driving and fleeing police. On Aug. 15, Robinson's blue BMW was caught on radar going more than 100 mph in a 55-mph zone. According to police, when they tried to pull him over, Robinson refused to stop and a high-speed chase ensued. The criminal complaint said Robinson's blood-alcohol content was measured at 0.11 percent.

It wasn't Robinson's first brush with the law or substance abuse. In 2005, Robinson pleaded guilty to DUI while with the Seattle Seahawks. And in 2004, he was suspended for four games for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Prior to his arrest in August, Robinson had appeared to put his issues behind him, putting together a Pro Bowl campaign in Minnesota.

Your living situation explains what? I grew up in Milwaukee (18 years), lived in Green Bay for 8 more, and am now in Madison. :banned: The "talent" at WR is not the biggest worry on the Packers so adding a WR does not add much strength to the team. The Packers have Driver/Jennings at WR with Ferguson as the #3. It does fall off there thus Koren being placed as the #4 unless he cleans up and maybe #5 if it takes him time to learn the system.

I don't believe this will work out for the Packers.

I'll wait until I see what "protection language" is built into the contract before deciding if it's a good gamble or just throwing darts at a board.

So he is for sure going to be suspended?
It doesn't appear to be a "definite," but it sure seems very likely...
Because of past violations of the league's substance abuse policy, Robinson could be subject to a yearlong suspension if it's determined the incident encroached his prescribed treatment plan.

That would explain the two-year contract, I suppose. . .
he could face up to 364 days in jail and up to $4,650 in fines, Vance said.
Remember, that doesn't include any time he may need to serve for this latest infraction:a felony count of fleeing from police, two counts of drunken driving, and three other misdemeanors.

Really, this is the Packers hoping that his trial date gets set for next year.

You know, on 2nd thought.. The Packers Needed to sign him.. After letting Mr. #2 go earlier they need that criminal personality to replace it. ;)

The Pack wouldn't have signed him to sit, they need funds elsewhere to help Favre. I would expect Koren to appeal, and TRY to drag it out all season, punishment coming next year. I would assume that the safety clause in the contract is about playing this season. It wouldn't shock me to see Koren as the Pack's #2 WR all this season. Not saying it's likely, but it wouldn't shock me in the slightest.

Remember that the Packers offered Koren more money than the Vikes last season when the Vikes cut him and then resigned him within two days as a Cost saving move. At the time, Koren said he was "honored" but needed to go with the Vikes as they believed in him. The Packers did covet Koren last season.

You take shots at Charlie Rogers and Todd Pinkston?
There's a difference between being untalented and being stupid.
:whoosh: I'm not sure if you're calling Rogers untalented, or what your point is.
Marcus Robinson = Talented and stupidCharles Rogers = Untalented and StupidTodd Pinkston = UntalentedRobinson signs something like an $18 million contract in the offseason, after being given a second chance, only to piss it away because he can't stay out of the bottle. That's stupid. And it's why I took a shot at him. Not sure why Scupper brought up the other two.

IF KROB does play at WR this year, are we forgettng that he was Mr Steel hands trying to catch passes from Matt Hass. . . .how does this guy think he can catch passes from Favre? I think Madden will start saying BRICK instead of BOOM, when he speaks of Favre throwin the ball to this guy.

On the other hand, who knows as a PR guy, but as a WR, maybe having atleast depth to the #4 spot will help a little since Favre has always been known for spreading the ball around.

I don't see him not playing or the pack having something figured out so that they know he will play. . . .otherwise, why sign the guy. There are other long shot WR out there to look at, and the released a couple other WR that were similar long shots just about a month ago.

Not sure what they are thinking here. . .I think there might be some better depth on the wire for the O Line. . .which I think would help more. . . .but hey, I draw buildings, I'll let the pack make their own calls I suppose.

Here's to a long season.

Rogers is very talented. And very stupid. Just because he has yet to put it together for a season doesn't make him untalented. Marcus?

Assuming KRob is able to play this season I would expect him to provide a major upgrade in the return game (which the Packers badly need) and disappoint yet another team as a WR. Maybe he'll become a decent No. 3 WR but it's more than clear by now that for all his talent Robinson simply isn't going to be the player his talent indicates he can be. I see no reason to believe anything will be different now that he is in Green Bay.

Speculating here. But isn't this more of a favor by the Packers to allow Robinson to clear his suspension? It would seem most teams would not want to sign him because he has a 1 year suspension coming his way. But then if no team would sign him, he would never be able to work off his 1 year suspension.

Where in K-Town? Born and raised there. If able to play out this season Koren could be an impact. At some point this team is going to throw the ball non-stop and I would have to believe he would get a few targets. As a WW acquisition that would cost me nothing it might be worth the spot.

You're happy about getting Koren? :lmao: :banned: :drive:
Not even close. What in my post would lead you to think that it was? I clearly said I think he'll fail as a WR. He could provide help in the return game, though, based on what he showed last season. But overall, I think it's a pure desperation move by a desperate team facing a long season.
