All the Favre haters out there... I am saying it now... The Packers will make the playoffs this year... and just may win that division... see you in the playoffs...

Imagine if we had 31 more of these from a fan of every other team in the NFL.

I can see it now:All the Alex Smith haters out there... I am saying it now... The 49ers will make the playoffs this year... and just may win that division... see you in the playoffs...

I assume it is because of all the Pro-Bowl level F/A signings in the offseason?A healthy Javon Walker coming back to giving Favre a legitimate WR#1?

A. Green found a time machine and is young and healthy again?

Reggie White isn't dead?

Gilbert Brown ate the other 3 teams in the NFC North?

I guess it's possible.

Just the playoffs? I got them going to the Super Bowl!

At this point in his career, Favre needs to be surrounded with a bunch of offensive talent, particularly in the running game so he doesn't try to do too much, and they don't have a bunch of offensive talent.

Yikes. Saints, Lions, Rams, Bills, Vikings, Jets. Too bad we couldn't time warp Green back 2 years, he'd run wild with this schedule.

Favre haters?I looooove Brett Favre. He should be the game MVP whenever the Lovie Smith led Bears play against the Pack, as the Bears own him!

The Packers have a better chance of making the playoffs than the Seahawks, Niners and Lions. I'll give you that much.

True lately. Makes me long for the years when Favre and the Pack absolutely dominated the Bears. :(

An undeniable fact: For the past five years the loser of the Super Bowl has failed to make it to the playoffs. I'll stick with that trend:S.B. Loser (Super Bowl #) Record in following season:

Eagles (Super Bowl 39) 6-10

Panthers (Super Bowl 38) 7-9

Raiders (Super Bowl 37) 4-12

Rams (Super Bowl 36) 7-9

Giants (Super Bowl 35) 7-9

That would be relevant if any of those teams played in a division with the 2006 Rams, 2006 Cardinals, and 2006 49ers. Seattle goes 6-2 in the division at worst

Let's see... between Shaun Alexander being the Madden 2007 cover boy, and the Super Bowl loser trend, I think the chips are stacked mighty high against the Seahawks. I say Arizona wins the division, with the Rams in 2nd with the Seahawks missing the playoffs....It could be argued that the NFC East will provide all the playoff teams next season, with only the division winners making it in the North (Bears), South (Carolina) and West (Arizona).

AH AH Ah AH AH AH .

without a QB very difficult .

And by the way i know Favre is coming back , and i still say without a QB.

I must respectfully disagree. The Packer's defense is going to be excellent with all their additions. It was a pretty good defense last season, and they have added Woodson, Pickett, and Hawk. Every unit on defense looks like it could be pretty darn good. On offense, I think the Packers will be quite effective. Don't forget about all the injuries they suffered last season. They get to try again with their guards to find some decent ones. Meanwhile, they still have excellent tackles and TE. Driver is a good player. After that, they could have a problem at WR. Between Green, Davenpoop, and Gado they are very deep at RB. Henderson is a pro-bowl FB. But the biggest upgrade of all is that Favre is back! I don't expect him to make the terrible decisions he made last season. He was doing OK at first, but as the Packers playoff hopes disappeared, Favre's focus evaporated. As long as they don't get in the hole this year, the Packers will once again be blessed with great QB play.

Lastly, don't forget the huge coaching upgrade. Sherman was awful and his gaming decisions cost the Packers several games a year. I don't know much about McCarthy, but he has got to be better than Sherman. I fully expect the Packers will make the playoffs next season.

Good Point... But did any of those teams have a ligitimate beef with the outcome of the game? The Seahawks will come into this season with a huge chip on their shoulders. Not saying that they will win it all but they will make the playoffs.

I don't see the Packers beating two teams with excellent offensive and defensive lines (Vikings/Bears). Linebackers are great, but even Lewis and Urlacher struggle with average to poor defensive lineman. The game is won in the trenches, as coaches always say, and the Packers will get pushed around once again.

I don't think the Lions are in the hunt this year. They just flat out don't want to practice. And if Martz send everybody long Kitna & McCoun are going to be on injured reserve after the 1st Bears game. The Vikings are a big question mark but are likely out classed this year. The Packers had the 7th ranked defense last year and added the following starters

Pickett (#2 in tackles last year - Kampman was #1) - they will continue to use a rotating defensive line.

Woodson - fully recovered from injury

Manuell & Roman at safety

Hawk - #1 outside linebacker in the draft

Hodge - #1 inside linebacker in the draft.

They focus on picking up solid tacklers which was their biggest weakness last year.

Offense:

Adopting Denver zone blocking running game

Jennings - Most polished 4 year receiver in draft (already runs great routes and should beat out Ferguson fairly quickly)

College - Looks to start at left guard

Spitz - will likely be backup to start with but after a few weeks should be able to step in to replace either guard or the center should they get injured.

Special Teams:

Not a strong point but return game should be much improved as should punting. Field goals could be an issue (with Cundiff).

And Favre - most experience at QB in the division and his throwing velocity is still one of the top three in the league. Since he throws the ball to a position rather than a player its important that the receivers run the correct routes. McCarthy said he is picking up the new offensive calls well and will attend all camps & activities (which he has skipped the last couple years).

I see it coming down to a fight between the Bears and Packers. The Bears have more experience on defense and the Packers have more on offense.

I'm picking the Packers because I think they will have made the most improvements and they play the Bears the first week in Green Bay. The good defenses usually take until the 3rd week to click so I give the advantage to the Packers for that game and that make make the difference by the end of the year.

But if anyone is injured all bets are off. The team with the best backups will win.

=================

Almost forgot. The 2nd Bears/Packers game is at the end of the year (in Chicago). Could it be for the division?? Could they both make the playoffs??

Crack pipe, smoking this, smoking that... funny... but I'm just tellling you how it will be...

Last year was a train wreck... injuries, coaching snafus... if it was horse shoes we would have done alot better.... but we didn't...

Did losing Walker hurt? Yeah it stung... but he couldn't stay... not with the last 2 off seasons... But Favre makes the receiver... how many WR left GB for greatness???

Favre being back is a plus... cause they aren't looking to win in 5 years... we won't hope on Rex Grossman, or depend on Brad Johnson... Favre is proven... he will bounce back...

The Defense will be even better this year... and make it so Favre doesn't have to do everything...

The RB situation will flush out... but we aren't hoping Kevin Jones grows a sack, or Chester Taylor is the answer...

We have a bunch of vets coming back and some young talent... and we have Favre....

I think we had a great draft... I wanted to jump in front of a train after last years...

Enjoy the offseason... and be prepared to watch the Pack in the Playoffs...

Favre is a HUGE upgrade to Favre last year.Sherman was a disaster. My grandmother would be better than he was.

Last year injuries, bad coaching, and Favre's psyche did them in. Now the defense looks stronger than ever, Sherman is out, and Brett is back. The Packers should win the division easily.

:P

I like the Packers to be better. Without injuries last year that was still and 8-8 team. Bring everybody back healthy except Walker, ad a good draft and good free agents and they should be better. I'm not looking at the playoffs yet. I'm just hoping Vegas sets that O/U win line somewhere around 6 and I'll pound the over.

I have no doubt in my mind that the Packers will win more games this year than last.

2 more to be exact.

The only way the Packers get to the playoffs is if they start buying Bear tickets now :P

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
The Bears D better start scoring more points.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
The Bears special teams will put four tuddies on the board, and greatly increase the 'field position' game. While I tend to agree that the Vikes and Pack MIGHT have an outside shot at the division - the Lions don't have a prayer. It will also take the Pack/Vikes/Lions time to get acclimated to the new offensive/defensive systems they're running.

The Bears are returning 22 starters (Jerry Angelo reminded us on Draft Day) - and the H.C. and coordinators are the same as last year. They also have the easiest (strength of) schedule this year.
