Pacman Jones does not workout in New Orleans as planned

By James Varney, The Times-Picayune

March 19, 2010, 2:49PM

Former NFL cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones did not appear for a workout as expected Friday in New Orleans. There was no immediate word on why he chose to cancel the widely publicized appearance.

Jones was supposed to hold his own workout for scouts after Tulane University finished its Pro Day. The Jones appearance was neither organized nor sanctioned by Tulane and school officials at the Pro Day said they had no information on Jones scrapping his workout.

Jones' agent reportedly landed in New Orleans at the same time the Green Wave players were going through their drills before a batch of Saints assistant coaches and scouts from the Texans and Chiefs among others.

In recent weeks there have been reports Jones was talking with the Detroit Lions and the San Francisco 49ers but no deal with either of those teams had been announced Friday afternoon.

ETA update:

Posted by Mike Florio on March 19, 2010 5:12 PM ETContrary to a report from the New Orleans Times-Picayune that cornerback Pacman Jones failed to show up for his open workout, Jason La Canfora of NFL Network reports that the session is occurred.

"He's running the 40 right now and just did an interview with the camera crew we have there," La Canfora said via e-mail.

La Canfora also said that five teams are present.

The problem apparently is that Jim Varney of the Times-Picayune believed that the session would occur at the same place where the Tulane Pro Day occurred. It's actually happening at another location.

Hopefully, Varney will be issuing an apology to Vern.

I couldn't think of a worse place for him to be "focused" on a workout...next time the agent may want to try Utah...or even Alaska.

From Rotoworld:

Free agent Pacman Jones didn't show up for his scheduled workout on Friday. There was "no immediate word" on why Jones was absent, but he's had the workout planned for nearly a month. Numerous teams were scheduled to attend, and certainly won't be pleased if Jones didn't have a legitimate excuse. If the teams were not informed ahead of time, the no-show could end Pacman's career.

Free agent Pacman Jones did work out for NFL teams on Friday, after all.

New Orleans Times-Picayune reporter James Varney was in the wrong spot when he reported that Pacman was a no-show. "He's running the 40 right now and just did an interview with the camera crew we have there," according to NFL Network's Jason La Canfora. Only five teams showed up to Pacman's workout.
Varney's going to have to answer a lot of questions.LINK

I don't like the man at all, but he didn't do anything wrong here. He DID show up, it just wasn't in the same location the reporter thought it was supposed to be.

Sure it's easier (and funnier) to pile on but at least READ through the thread before you post and perpetuate ignorance.

Pacman reported to have run a 4.4

According to his agent, Pacman Jones ran a 4.4 in the forty-yard dash at his personal Pro Day Friday.

NFL Network also reports that Jones met privately with the 49ers prior to the workout, and Lions officials visited with him Friday morning. In addition to Detroit and San Francisco, the Jaguars and Saints sent representatives.
I wouldn't mind seeing Pacman Jones sign with the 49ers. Would give them the return specialist they desperately need. Then they won't have to spend a high draft pick. I know he's had his troubles but Coach Sing has been able to keep Ahmad Brooks out of trouble, maybe he can do the same for Pacman.
