Panicking! (1 Viewer)

My leagues draft is Wednesday and I'm the commish. I just had an owner back out.Can I run a 13 team league?
Just say you found a new owner, but just play the team yourself. Then you can use it as a farm system during the year.Win win.

U can but it will suck. Email all the guys in your league and I am sure someone can get a guy to play. Unless your buy in is $$$$$$$$

1) Post in Dating Game to find and owner.2) You could possibly delay the draft if owners are willing3) You can certainly run a 13-team league. For example, a 13-week regular season, every team gets one "bye" week in which they don't do a H2H matchup, but instead get a win if and only if they score higher than the league average.

I was in a 13 team league once - it wasn't that bad, just meant that one team was on bye every week.

Perhaps a more palatable option would be to proxy draft for a 14th team, then find an owner soon after.

#3 is very good advice. Here's how to do it:One big league, no divisions. Team 14 is "MEAN SCORE" - meaning the mean of all other teams' scores. Everyteam will play everyone else once, and that includes 'MEAN SCORE'.I recommend makign sure everyone knows that the dummy team cannot make the playoffs - trying to get teams out of the playoffs to submit lineups to get a good average is a pain. And yes, it could make the playoffs if you let it.Good luck.

depends where your league is hosted...for instance, I know that Yahoo won't allow you to have a draft with an odd number of teams.

First, calm down and don't panic.

Second, edit your thread title to be something that indicates what your thread is about.

Watch MEAN SCORE make the playoffs and win the championship. He's good, don't underestimate him.

This happened in one of my leagues a few years ago. We just created a 14th team and called it "The Ghost of xxxx," and stocked it with really crappy players, and everyone played the ghost team once as their bye week (but the points scored still counted towards the season totals). If anyone wanted a guy off the team as a ww pickup, they just contacted the commish, and he took care of it.

We had this one year and had a team play 2 games a week. So after 13 weeks everyone will have played 14 games. We didn't have divisions so it was easy to work the schedule and still be fair.

Just make the 14th team the league average and schedule as you normaly would and instead of playing the owner that dropped out the team plays against the league average that week. It sucks because it's harder to beat the average than an actual opponent but this is probaly the best solution!!

This was going to be my suggestion as well. MFFL allows for this option, so it's pretty easy to set up.Also, you will need to adjust your divisions a little to allow for this because, as hotboyz (damn I hated typing that) stated, it's harder to beat the league average, so set up your divisions as 7 teams in one, 6 teams in the other (with the league average). Have the top two teams in each division make the playoffs, then the next two overall best records.

Meh. From what I understand he's fairly average.

I've seen a dummy team make the league championship. I wasn't in the league, but I had a buddy who was.

Trim the fat. Kick off one of the other owners. There's got to be that one guy in your league nobody likes.
:lmao:Awesome suggestion. This is the FF equivalent of shivving someone on your first day in prison so you don't become someone's #####. You're the commissioner. Show them you mean business.

Is just about everyone in the league a fan of the same team? If so, put a moratorium on drafting players from that team. Every week for the first fourteen weeks of the season (except that team's bye week), one team plays against the highest scoring QB, RB, RB2, WR1, WR2, WR3, TE, K, and D. Every week but one, you're not only rooting for your home team, you're rooting for them to blow up fantasy wise (and you don't even care who blows up) so they can take out the guy they're playing. The odds of the ghost team winning aren't that good, but it'll give you something extra to root for in a game you already plan to (and definitely get to) watch.

Then you have normal week 15 and 16 playoffs, with four teams making it in.

as a long time commish, i know one thing for certain: #### happens....

bust your ### and find someone for that last spot. it will be so much more worth it in the long run. that last owner is probably right under your nose. don't be desperate and make a bad choice, but start some serious brainstorming! (or go to the dating game forum.) i had a guy do the same thing for a dynasty draft i had been organizing for 6 months. i had 6 days to get a replacement. i actually found one pretty quick in the dating game forum, but ended up finding someone else instead.

good luck!

I disagree... MEAN SCORE is average at best.
