CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -Steve Smith sat out another practice for the Carolina Panthers on Thursday with a strained right hamstring.

The All-Pro receiver, who missed the Panthers' season-opening loss to Atlanta, has been out since Sept. 5. He remained questionable for Sunday's game at Minnesota.

Smith, who led the NFL in receiving last season, missed more than two weeks of training camp with a strained left hamstring and another week with an ingrown toenail.

If Smith can't play Sunday, Drew Carter is expected to start against the Vikings.

Center Justin Hartwig missed his second straight practice with a groin injury and also remained questionable. Geoff Hangartner would likely replace Hartwig against the Vikings.

:o :wall:

Ask Joe Horn how his hamstring was last season. Even when he started to play, he was clearly limited.

I don't think its anything to do with a contract extension.

He's just trying to take it easy, cause he knows that he shouldn't get out there and hurt himself more than he already is. I'm glad that he's taking some time off instead of getting out there and hurting himself. That way i know when he does play that he is actually going to produce for me. I don't want him re-hurting anything.

As a Bears fan, every game that the Panthers lose, the better the chances we get a chance to get them in the cold in the playoffs and get our revenge from last year :banned:

Based on this quote from Key, it is obvious he feels like most of us that the "playoffs" in week 13 are what matters :D "Keyshawn Johnson, though, doesn't want Smith rushed back into action. "You want to have him on the field because he gives you the ability to do some things offensively, but at the same time, you want him out there healthy," Johnson said Wednesday. "Just coming out there as a cardboard cutout does nothing for us in Week 13"
