Parental Controls for the Internet (1 Viewer)

What controls, applications, or rules do you guys use for your kids' internet usage?  The internet is a cesspool and I'd like to protect my kids from all the smut and negativity as long as I can although I realize it's a futile endeavor in the long run.

The current battle with my 9 year old is over Youtube.  He's creating his own videos and until today was allowed to receive comments for his videos.  I'm sure you can all guess the quality of comments rolling in.  I've since disabled the ability to post comments on his videos which apparently was the equivalent of telling him I'm amputating his arm.

You got to use a series of both positive and negative reinforcement methods. These methods should be about personal responsibility and not about social or peer interactions.

Tell you son that if he ever so much as curses in one of his videos you will personally take control of  his account and post a videos of his parents telling his most embarrassing moments and tell them he is a bed wetter and Facebook it to all his friends.  This does two things. This first makes your son think you are crazy and irrational - which works in your favor and secondly it re-enforces the notion of family and the importance of doing what you father tells you.

Open DNS to restrict content but more importantly limit online private/night time.  I do that by disabling their Wi-Fi access at night via my routers app on my phone.
