Same rules as yesterday with a few significant changes...1. You start with ONE Pariah.2. You "earn" a Pariah for each 2 round completed in the draft. i.e. after Round 2 is completed, everyone will be given an additional Pariah. After Round 4, another. ANd so forth.3. You can use the Pariahs whenever you would like, one at a time, provided you have them to use.4. You can use a Pariah on any position you would like, not just the one you drafted. i.e. You can choose a WR and use a Pariah on a QB.5. This will be a 12 team league.12 people signup and we'll start. Thanks,Colin
Leagues will be hosted this fall at www.pokerandfootball.comSome of you may remember this from earlier in the spring. In short, I will gbe putting together/hosting some Fantasy Football leagues this fall. The leagues will be scored and rostered like normal, but there is a bit of a twist.... Rosters - 12 teams of 16 playersStarters - 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 Flex (RB/WR/TE), 1 TE, 1 K, NO D/STLineups and Schedule - For the time being, I have not determined if it will be "best ball" (highest scorer plays) or "submitted lineup" (weekly choosing of starters). I am also trying to determine whether or not I'll be able to have it be head-to-head or total points. Most of it will be determined by what kind of software I can integrate in to manage the leagues. That will be determined later.PARIAH "twist" - For each 4 rounds of the draft, teams will be given a "Pariah" selection. What is a "PAriah" selection? Simple. WHen a team is "on the clock" for their selection they are obligated to select a player to add to their roster, like normal. However, up to 4 times during the draft, the team on the clock has the option of selecting a player AND excluding another player from the draft pool. This is known as using a "Pariah" pick.Whats the point? Well, be eliminating players from the player pool, the gap between the good players and the bad players becomes even wider. THe idea is that top-tier players would be even MORE valuable, and hitting on a deep sleeper could make a huge difference. For example, a person could select Randy Moss as WR1 late in the 1st round and also use a "Pariah" selection on Terrell Ownes, meaning no team could roster Owens. Suddenly, the principles of VBD get skewed. Or later in the draft, someone could see that Team X had drafted Priest Holmes in round 1, so the team on the clock could use a "Pariah" pick on Larry Johnson to effectively weaken the Holmes selection. THe possibilities are pretty wide open. What's the skill? Many Fantasy Players profess that Fantasy Draft Day is one of their favorite days of the year. In this scenario, things get chaotic in a hurry , which only adds to the fun. Skill comes in to play when teams/owners have to adjust on the fly to the rapidly changing values of positions. Similarly, there is a MUCH greater scope of potential strategy involved then just grabbing your list of projections and hoping for the best.Anyway, I'm interested in running a few MOCK drafts in the Mock Draft Forum to (a) see how this goes and (b) see how much people enjoy it. As a byproduct of the drafts, the participants can help shape how all this works and can 'crack the egg' on some of the nuances of drafting this way. Also, when the fall comes, I will need some commisioners to help, and I expect those commishes will be compensated for their time. Please sign up below. When I have the first 12, I will begin a thread in the Mock draft forum for a 16 round serpentine draft. Draft spots will be assigned at random. THis is just a way to test things out. I'm hoping the draft can get torn through pretty fast (a day or so) and I will step in and make selections if needed. Like I said, I just want to see how this works and if people dig it.Thank you for your help.Colin
