This company has been a #### show from the start, losing money hand over fist for quite some time... AOL sold a portion to another company who proceeded to lay off just about everyone via conference call earlier, have a listen it's only a minute and a half:

My local Patch reporter was among those laid off. Good reporter, and I had some positive interactions with him over Twitter. Hopefully they all move onto something better.

It is for the best, that company is awful... I'm sure there are some bummed out people, but it really is good for them to get out of that train wreck.

A good way to lay off that many people in my opinion. I've seen companies really butcher these types of things and personally I would appreciate a no-nonsense, quick notice giving to all employees affected at once.
