**Patriots at Bengals** (-7.5, 41) 1:00 (1 Viewer)

Patriots don't have much offense.
Bengals have a lot more but a few big dogs may not be playing.
Pats defense was decent last year but losing Judon is big.
Bengals defense is underated imop.
That unit and a healthy Joe Burrow are the difference...

Cincinnati- 23
New England- 12

Bengals run defense is their weakness and they’ll be without Kris Jenkins Jr. I’m expecting the Patriots to run, run, and run some more, even with a bottom of the barrel OL unit. It’s the stoppable force versus the movable object.

That said even if the Bengals only trot out Andrei Iosivas and Jermaine Burton at WR that should be more than enough for them to handle the Pats this week.

They should have enough to beat NE. I expect that O line to be a mess all around.

Do think with Cinci being down Higgins and maybe Chase (and even if active limited), I could see the D hanging tough and making Cinci fans nervous. Bet there is some inefficiency in the redzone. Bet a lot of time of possession, but more FGs vs. TDs.

Cinci 26, NE 10

Yes, might be time to pick up the CIN kicker.

And defense.

Stack.

NE is implementing a ZBS, something they tried a couple of years ago in training camp during the Patricia season. They could barely get a back out of the backfield and dumped it. It requires fast, quick, and talented pulling interior linemen to get out and make quick reads and blocks. Unfortunately, that’s not the way the line has been constructed, and the guys they are rolling out at the moment are backups on a line full of question marks. The current OL was put together to go north and south, not east and west. It should be interesting to see how it plays out.

If both Chase and Higgins are a no go tomorrow
I smell upset in the making here
The Bengals could be without their 3 most talented WRs if they make Burton inactive. Could be the only time all season that the Pats would have an advantage at WR over their opponent. Christian Gonzalez locking down Iosivas, and who do they have left? Trenton Irwin? Charlie Jones? All decent receivers in their own right but would be fascinating to see how they hold up without Chase or Higgins to draw coverage. Could be a letdown game for the Bengals. Probably not (I’ll always pick Burrow over Brissett) but we’ll see.

Patriots (to cover) and the under.

I think Tee Higgins will be missed in this one. Chase has typically blown up whenever Higgins has been out, but that's somewhat in question this week.

I think the Pats have trouble getting guys open, and trouble pass blocking the Bengals in this one. Bengals D feels like a great fantasy start.

Low expectations here...I just hope Mayo has the Pats ready to play and they look like a functional NFL team...yup, that's about it until Drake Maye takes over at some point during the season.

Bengals have no biz losing this game and it looks like Chase will be playing. Cincy D will exploit a suboptimal NE OL and put the Pats on a path to a long season and a top 3 pick in the 2025 draft

Going to be a minority opinion but NE wins this one. Defense will do their job, ST will rise to the occasion and RamSteve will have a big day.

Nice first quarter for the Pats...they look well-prepared and are playing smart football on both sides of the ball...hopefully they can continue this for 3 more quarters.

It that was college, the QB would be down, but he was not down by contact, but still ruled down before the fumble.
