Patriots | Maroney reportedly out for Week 6Sat, 13 Oct 2007 20:43:57 -0700John Tomase, of the Boston Herald, reports New England Patriots RB Laurence Maroney (groin) will not play Week 6, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Maroney made the trip with the team, but he will miss the game. He had been considered a game-time decision.
Plan accordingly

thats big news, Smiz. thanks for the insight. Morris owners are going psycho crazy right now because theyre gonna stuff it down Dallas' throats!

That's funny I just read on cbs sportsline that they say the Boston Herald thinks Maroney is likely to play.

I'm not saying that cbs is a good source of information, but there seems to be conflicting information at the least.

It still seems like pure speculation, but

Laurence Maroney, RB NE

News: The Boston Herald reports Saturday that RB Laurence Maroney, sidelined the last two games with a groin injury, will likely play Week 6 at Dallas. The Patriots list him as questionable, and head coach Bill Belichick called him a game-time decision. "(Belichick) said it’s a gametime decision? Then it’s a gametime decision. There we go," said Maroney.

Analysis: According to the report, the very fact that Maroney talked to the media indicates he'll likely go. Still, check back with us early Sunday to make sure the Patriots don't make him inactive. Even if he plays, he'll split carries with Sammy Morris, making him nothing more than a No. 2 or No. 3 Fantasy RB.

Definitely a hard situation to read especially with a late afternoon kickoff and likely to be limited information available until after the initial week starts.

I am RB strapped in a couple of leagues and was considering Morris anyways thinking that Maroney would be ready to play. I will probably just roll with him and take a chance.

Not official but the Herald is saying they have sources saying he won't play.

Six weeks in...and this guy was a first round pick... at least SJax is out, and out for X time. Maroney has been killing owners... as it's been a week-by-week thing. Reminds me of the shoulder.. and the week-by-week rhetoric in pre-season. He was never 'out for 3-4 weeks".... and now the same thing. So thankful I didn't touch this guy with a 10 ft pole... and now with Morris performing well... barring injury, Maroney owners will only see him coming back to an RBBC. Sorry... but this guy is a #2 RB at best the rest of the way. You're lucky if you can get Braylon Edwards for Maroney at this point...

fixed
FWIW I wouldn't trade away Colston for Maroney in a PPR. I might do it in standard scoring.
