And the article in question is written by one of the Boston media known to be uber critical with a Chicken Little mentality. It's funny listening to him at night because he BASHED the Pats for months prior to the season on how Moss would be a 100%, certified, unmitigated DISASTER, would destroy the team, would put up numbers like he did in Oakland, and would not make it through the season on the Pats roster and would be flat out released. While he is someone with all access to the Pats situation, I have a hard time buying into his sky is always falling mentality. Maybe Dman = Felger.
You're not close to remotely saying Felger was out on a limb in bashing the Moss signing though are you David?J
Certainly Felger was not alone in questioning the Moss signing and the potential impact on the team. I think many people at least had questions and concerns. I had been hearing a lot about Moss coming to NE even LAST YEAR and how the brass was confident that Moss would fit like a glove. At the time (even on the boards) I felt that Moss would end up a Patriots and was not surprised in the least when they traded for him.As for Felger, I don't have any problem with him questioning the decision to obtain Moss, but he went out of his way for an extended period taking his shots at the signing and it got worse as he went along. Sure, like anyone else, he's entitled to his opinion, but IMO he went out of his way to take other topics and somehow get them spun around to get on his anti-Moss soap box. I guess it makes for good theater on tv, but it gets tiresome after awhile. And I don't totally disrespect him as a member of the media. I think he reports decent information and tidbits on the team, but like Ron Borges did for years there was definitely a negative spin on most stories and some loose interpretations as to what things meant. In this case, I agree that the Pats again will have some tough personnel decision to make this off season (including some the team made far worse when they could have already had guys locked up). But it's "the team will self-destruct" mantra that I think is a bit over the top (at least for me personally). The other odd thing is that he filled the airwaves/pages with plenty of comments and material on how Moss was going to be a disaster, so to listen to him after a 4 TD game and openly applaud him is funny, but he will still look to stir the pot on how the deal will ultimately not work out. To which I ask, how many more wins could the Pats have at this point?
