Pats SB wins s/b credited to the defense and spygate (1 Viewer)

after driving home the point on Sunday that he tipped over the peak of his prime several years ago i thought it was time to re-consider Brady's career and the credit he gets for being a SB winning QB.the guy has milked being a middle-income Terry Bradshaw in to mega-contract endorsements, a supermodel wife and the undying devotion of an entire region of the country.the Super Bowls that the Pats did win can be credited to 2 things:1) stellar defense2) spygatefair to say now that Brady is a fine QB but he's not in the class of the cream of NFL history's best and it's a dis-service to those greats to view him as such.

You couldn't be more right. That 50 TD season was really all Moss and Welker making him look good. Joe Montana never lost a playoff game. Look it up.

His record in playoffs since putting up elite stats reminds me of Peyton. Maybe its just the qb isnt as important as we think when all the teams are good. Makes sense a player would be a champion more often when the team had a great defense

You realize it's very hard to win every AFC Championship + Super Bowl you play in, right? Yeah, Tom Brady is such a loser.

136 - 39

Highest winning percentage by a Quarterback EVER.

Big deal. No QB ever wins games without 10 other guys on offense doing their jobs and a strong D. Heck, Trent Dilfer managed to win a SB using that formula. Brady is clearly a product of being in the right place at the right time. As soon as he is "pushed" by a team that can pressure him and compete with the Pats other players he shrinks from the moment and becomes average at best. The OP has it right.

Ok, I looked it up. Here's his playoff record. "Never" is a big word for being only 5 letters. Playoff Record as Starting QB: 1981 (3-0), 1983 (1-1), 1984 (3-0), 1985 (0-1), 1986 (0-1), 1987 (0-1), 1988 (3-0), 1989 (3-0), 1990 (1-1), 1993 (2-1), 1994 (0-1)
BURNED AND OWNED AND FUNNY AS HECK!7 losses is more than never.

What does Montans having seven playoff losses all-time have to do with the fact that Tommy Pigtails has a losing playoff record since they stopped letting him cheat?

It's not possible he just lost? The other teams were just better? Correlation does not equal causation.

Yes because I was serious when I used all caps, you know, because I had a need to shout on something.

Brady & Peyton are just a couple of glorified Joe Flaccos.

uncannily :goodposting: he has consistently come up little when it counts in the post-season for a while now. no defense to bolster the team = early exits.

I realize this entire thread is just trolling --- what happened to the shark pool?but, if you are good enough to make the playoffs, there are 2 possible results -- lose the biggest game of your season, or win the superbowl.brady has managed to get himself to the playoffs every year except '02 when there was a 3way tie for the division, and winning the superbowl every year of a ~15 yr career is pretty unlikely.

A little break from the action here as i reminisce. The last time the patriots had a losing season, bill clinton was president. The time before that, I couldn't legally drink yet. In both cases, they ended their losing season streak at 1, and by the way, they went to the superbowl the following year. Between the red sox, celtics, bruins and patriots, I've watched seven championships in the last dozen years, out of ten finals appearances. The last time I celebrated a championship was just a couple years ago, the last time I watched my team play for a championship was less than a year ago, and just a couple days ago they were playing for another trip to the superbowl. We went so long with heartbreaker after heartbreaker that this run was completely unfathomable. Go ahead and asterisk the #### out of whatever you want, because I've lived a charmed life as a sports fan. If they never win another one, im fine with that, too. The only thing I hope is that my kid gets to enjoy rooting for a championship while he's still young enough that its awesome for him. You may now resume fishing.

Good thing no one used a swear word or a double-entendre in this thread.Would hate to see the mods have to get involved or the quality of the SP diminished in any way.
