Aaron Rodgers was so sure his buddy on the Milwaukee Brewers, Ryan Braun, didn't use performance-enhancing drugs, that he told a skeptical Twitter follower last February that he would put his money where his mouth was.


Well, Braun has been suspended by Major League Baseball for the rest of the season after dropping an appeal, and somewhere Todd Sutton is wondering how he can collect the Green Bay Packers quarterback's $4.5 million base salary for this year.
When Braun had a positive test for PEDs overturned on appeal, Rodgers publicly defended him then as well.


Might be a bit awkward the next time the two Wisconsin sports stars talk.

Rodgers probably should be regretting being so defensive of Braun, now that Braun has dropped his appeal and said he made "some mistakes" and is willing to accept the consequences. Rodgers once backed out of a jersey bet with the R&B group Boyz II Men, and we really don't figure he will "pony up" on his Braun bet either.

 
First, there'd need to be some proof, is there a copy of the actual tweet?

Second, did Todd Sutton stand to lose anything? A unilateral bet ain't standing up in court.

Yeah, that's not anywhere close to something that Todd Sutton can use.

oh yeah, theres no way that guy is getting millions because he suckered AR into putting his foot in his mouth, but AR should throw him a couple of bucks

 
Rodgers should have never said anything, but I get the aspect of backing up a friend.....especially after Braun took the sample collector to task, he fooled some people.

If the bet gets more publicity and A rodgers is being pressured to pay up, Ryan Braun should be stepping up here......not Rodgers.

Judging by Braun's willingness to be so straightforward and forthcoming and show such an exemplary model of fine character to this point, I am going to go out on a limb and suggest that this doesn't happen....at all....ever.

 
For several million bucks I would spike some of Braun's drinks with some illegal stuff :moneybag:

I hope no one actually thinks Rodgers is in any way legally or even morally obligated to give anyone any money for anything regarding this nonsense.

It's funny...........it pretty much ends there.

 
Rodgers does come off like a buffoon for those comments, they were talking about them on Mike & Mike this morning. Love Rodgers as a player but he should keep his mouth shut sometimes.

I do not think he had to stand to lose anything--it just had to be a bargained for exchange. As long as he says "If Braun uses PED I will owe you 500." It is not an illusory promise because it is beyond Aaron's control. However, it was probably not even an Offer because Aaron probably did not intend to be bound, as he was jut goofing off. Anyways, i don't see Acceptance, so meh......

i like arron and think he probably just got scammed by ryan bill clinton ii i did not have relations with that steroids braun just like everyone else what should really happen is that braun the cheater should say i am sorry to the specimen collector and i hope that guy sues him honest and i hope he wins and i hope that all the jackapples around here in wisco who got on the specimen collector all apologize to him see braun the cheat the funny thing is that karma has a funny way of catching up with jagalopes like you and i am glad that you got stung when you play with the bull you get the horns that is what i think brohans take that to the bank
