I liked what I saw from Hillis last year when he was given the ball; smart, strong running, good hands and a nose for the endzone.

It looked like that success continued in the pre-season and I was thinking that he gave enough of a positive impression to McDaniels and the new coaching staff to at least be worked into the rotation but in week 1 he only got one carry and that was after Moreno got dinged and left the game.

So do we feel that Hillis has any value this year or will he continue to relegated to merely being a blocking back?

I thought like you and and took some late flyers on Hillis. It looks like he is an injury or two away from really contributing, though. He's been the first cut for new players off of waivers.

I have him as an "end of the bench guy" in a couple of leagues as well and I don't want to overreact to week 1, but he seems firmly seated as the third option at RB which would make him a guy who would only have value if Buckhalter or Moreno get hurt rather then a good bye week filler, which is what I thought I might be getting with him.

After hearing about how good he looked in camp, I am suprised to see him used so little as a rb with Moreno's injury setback.

I'd say he is WW fodder unless Week 2 shows something different. If you can pick up somebody like Mark Clayton, Burleson, Gage, or M Bush - I'd drop Hillis like he's hot.

I took a flier on him in 2 leagues, I cut him in one this week for Michael Clayton. I'll most likely be cutting him in my second league for a QB3 as Schaub/Garrard platoon insurance (either Sanchez, Stafford or Shaun Hill)
