Peanuts in Chinese food (1 Viewer)

Raider Nation

Devil's Advocate
What's the meaning of this nonsense? Definitely an action/trend which needs to be retired immediately.

New place opened. I ordered a spicy szechuan chicken. RN likes his chicken spicy. Spent a half hour picking peanuts out of it first. It didn't even occur to me to ask for it without peanuts. Does anyone actually like this madness?

I can see not wanting peanuts.

Thoughts on chicken with cashews?

i'm surprised the Chinese haven't been sued up and down by liberal soccer mom's whose unique snowflake kids named Piper and Jaydon have a peanut dust allergy.

Cashews should just wither and die.

Don't think I've ever had peanuts in any dish in China.

Then again don't think I've had any dish served in Chinese restaurants in the west in China

I'd kill for some Kung Pow now...thanks RN
You can have what's left of mine. Couldn't finish it after the beef teriyaki appitizer.
If your Chinese place also serves teriyaki, I think we've identified one of the problems.
Don't think I've ever seen one that didn't.
I was fairly certain that my go to didn't and checked online, they don't... That's a Japanese dish.

Guessing you're not a Pad Thai fan?

I'd advise you to go with my namesake, but you'd probably gag on it.

I try to avoid the chicken with batter on it, but I do like the flavor of that.

I think I remember you saying you are in CT. If so, check out the Wang Palace in Glastonbury. The General Tso's there can be ordered with white meat. It's thin sliced, very little batter, and just the right level of spice and tang.
