Here's the full list of SB winning QBs to date . . . based on who played the most in the actual SB, not based on who got their teams there.

4-TIME WINNERS

Terry Bradshaw, Louisiana Tech, 1st round, 1st team

Joe Montana, Notre Dame, 3rd round, 1st team

3-TIME WINNERS

Troy Aikman, Oklahoma/UCLA, 1st round, 1st team

Tom Brady, Michigan, 6th round, 1st team

2-TIME WINNERS

Bart Starr, Alabama, 17th round, 1st team

Roger Stauback, Navy, 10th round, 1st team

Bob Griese, Purdue, 1st round, 1st team

Jim Plunkett, Stanford, 1st round, 3rd team

John Elway, Stanford, 1st round, 1st team (drafted by the Colts)

1-TIME WINNERS

Joe Namath, Alabama, 1st round, 1st team

Len Dawson, Purdue, 1st round, 3rd team

Earl Morrall, Michigan State, 1st round, 5th team

Ken Stabler, Alabama, 2nd round, 1st team

Joe Theisman, Notre Dame, 4th round, 1st team (after CFL)

Jim McMahon, BYU, 1st round, 1st team

Phil Simms, Moorhead State, 1st round, 1st team

Doug Williams, Grambling State, 1st round, 2nd team

Jeff Hostettler, Penn State/West Virginia, 3rd round, 1st team

Mark Rypien, Washinton State, 6th round, 1st team

Steve Young, BYU, 1st round, 2nd team

Brett Favre, Southern Mississippi, 2nd round, 2nd team

Kurt Warner, Northern Iowa, Undrafted, 1st team

Trent Dilfer, Fresno State, 1st round, 2nd team

Brad Johnson, Florida State, 9th round, 3rd team

Ben Roethlisberger, Miami (OH), 1st round, 1st team

Peyton Manning, Tennesse, 1st round, 1st team

Eli Manning, Mississippi, 1st round, 1st team (drafted by the Chargers)

Since you mentioned the CFL for Theismann, it should be mentioned that Steve Young played in the USFL before the NFL, Doug Williams played in the USFL between his two NFL teams, and Kurt Warner played in the AFL. And didn't Brad Johnson play in NFLE?

Also woth noting that Bradshaw, Aikman, Plunkett, Elway, Young (S), Namath, Manning and Manning were #1 overall picks. Staubach's sort of in the Bo Jackson/Herschel Walker camp where his draft status is really misleading; he might have been the #1 overall pick, too, if not for his military commitment.

Brady (6th round) and Warner (undrafted) throw a wrench into this since they are modern players and it says that there is more opportunity for highly touted QB's to get benched and coaches are giving their backups a chance. Old school guys....only 1st rounders were considered worthy QB's it seems.

16 of 27 SB winners are first rounders. I guess that means Carolina and Arizona have the least probability of winning the SB.
