when describing marinara/red sauce..  What's the deal?  Unless you are 96 year old Italian expat, stop it.

Marinara = Simple tomatoes/garlic/oil. Quick cook, 30 minutes tops. Red pepper and/or basil optional here

Gravy = Tomato sauce that simmers for hours with meat. Meatballs, sausage, ribs, braciole...

So you never watched the Sopranos?
Guessing that's what this comes down to unless you're Italian (or hell, David Chase could have completely made it up for all I know). Never heard the term used in this context other than in the Sopranos or referencing the Sopranos.

I know a guy who went to Sunday Gravy at his mom's and it turned out it was an intervention for him.

My mom calls me Tony the Whop, it doesn't bother me.
It's ***=WithOutPapers...sheesh...you can't even get racially affronted Italian schtick  right... there's not a Dagos by, that I'm not sickened by with what we EyeTalians have to put up with.  Mama Mia!

braciole= so good but too much effort for me to make on my own.  My pops made it a few times and it was awesome.
