Perfect Draft (10 team) (1 Viewer)

Dodds, is there a reason the 10 team perfect draft went from a top 60 list to a top 50 list list this year? I won't even point out that about half way through you stopped changing the 60 to 50. (no search/replace? :goodposting: ). Am I to understand your suggestion that I should just take the best player off the list until all top 50 are gone? I know you say use some common sense, so I would imagine I would not take 5 RBs or 2 QBs off this list if that is what the list "suggested". How would you explain differences between what the DD recommends (or VBD in general) and what this top 50 list would produce?

Mike

PS. Thank you very much for the article. I am doing a 10 team league this year and have been anxiously awaiting this year's version.

I think the point is that with a 10 team draft scarcity isn't as much of a concern as it is with a 12 team or larger league. Running out of RB's or QB's to draft isn't going to happen until very late, so you can afford to follow value regardless of the position for the first 5-8 rounds. You get the best players you can, then re-assess your situation and draft based on need thereafter. There will be value there if you look for it.

I know 50 and 60 both appear in the article, but really you could use either and the concept is the same. In my 51-60 there are 3QBs, 3 RBs, 3 WRs and a TE, and I'm going to draft out of that group based on need, regardless.

No real reason except that sometimes you can get way off course if you draft say 8 or 9 players in the top 60 (while neglecting a starting QB and/or TE). So I thought tightening the parameters made more sense for the most people. Yes common sense still applies. Take no more than 1 QB or TE from this list. Stop after 4 RBs, etc unless it's extremely great value. Stockpiling helps you, but unless you can trade off some of that talent, you can hurt your team by having tremendous bench strength at the expense of having better starters to fill out the roster requirements....So it's always a careful balance. I felt it was easiest to make that happen by cutting the top guys from 60 to 50 (moving towards position drafting sooner)
