Perine is available in my league. I want to pick him up but would need to drop either Khalil Herbert or Jameson Williams. I like the upside to both but the KC RB could be a lotto ticket. Perine is a journeyman though. Thoughts?
What do you need the bench spot for? Is this a spot where you may need a spot start or is it a spot where you are shooting for the upside? That matters.
Typically I would say at this stage I stick with Jamo Williams because his upside is just too high. I don't think Perine will be anything more than a sometimes flex play with a high-ish floor for a flex and no real upside (barring injury). Herbert I see as the 2 down back for Chicago and will have value as the season goes along. I think he is the their best RB and just needs to stay healthy but he is expendable at the moment.
I could see dropping Herbert for Perine but I wouldn't drop Jamo.
My bench isn’t bad so it is a case of swinging for the upside of a pass catching back in a high scoring offense. He feels better than any option after Pacheco (who is small with a tough running style). I have Both Detroit RBs, Taylor, and the Miami backs - Mostert and Wright

With that being your RB room I'd definitely keep Jamo. I'm struggling to imagine when you'd start Perine, unless it's a start 6 RB league.
People seem to forget that McKinnon caught 8 TDs in the final 6 games of '22, but was largely not startable outside of that incredible run. And the Chiefs have more receiving weapons now. And Perine's a new back so could take some time to build the trust Mahomes has in his other skill guys.
After that game last night it looks to be the Pacheco show. Perine doesn't look to have a ton of value at this point. I would have no issue with moving on from him even though I think as he comes up to speed he might gain some touches. I just don't think he would be startable unless Pacheco misses time.
I am just rolling with what i have. I may bounce Herbert if the Bears look like a disaster. In general, I am very partial to players on good offenses. Perine was just signed so I am not surprised he had no showing last night.
