Peterson projection Week 7 (1 Viewer)

The Steelers have shut down the run the last two weeks, then again, that was against the Lions and the Browns. They will have a hard time containing Peterson, look for well over 100, close to 200 in total. ( 150 yds rush and 1 TD; 3 catches for 30 yds ) - courtesy Fantasysharks.com

Really? 150? 3 catches for 30 yards? Against the Steelers?

Just seems hard to bet against Adrian Peterson (MIN), whatever the circumstances....Take the over.

FantasySharks, I believe, are the ones who do the MFL projections under the "projected scores" section. They are notoriously high across the board.

this is definitely one of those weeks to expect less production out of AP.. This one is not shaping up well for the Vikes going in to Pittsburgh not healthy & the Steelers are getting healthier.. I'm guessing for closer to 85 yards & hopefully a TD. With that being said though.. He is one of those guys that could put up a huge game on any day against any defense. I still keep going back to his rookie year against the Chargers.. They had a really good defense & he had like 280 yards..

Should be a heck of a game hopefully...

296. I was there. 50 yardline, lower deck. I've had an ADP mancrush ever since.

I think that's an optimistic prediction. He has the talent to do it against anyone, but he might be a little gimpy on that ankle & the Vikings O-line has yet to put together a complete game.

I'm not benching him, but I'd be projecting about 80 yards rushing, a couple of catches and a 70% chance of a TD (ETA: ha, that's very close to Dodds, and I swear I didn't peak first).

 I remember there was plenty of discussion on this board during that preceding week regarding sitting Peterson against that tough Chargers defense, and subsequently plenty of  afterwards from their owners that did. You may temper your expectations, but at this point in his career barring injury he should never be benched.

They tore up some grass and layed down some new sod this week at heinz. The field will probably be crappier than usual. Whats up with Pitt not being able to take care of there grass every year?

Not to be snarky, but you are perusing the fantasysharks projections (I assume via MFL lineup recommendations) and this is the first time you thought a projection they made was high??

 ASYS - I finally had the chance to draft Peterson in one of my fantasy leagues this year (draft order for that one was determined randomly, and I got #2 - #1 went MJD in a PPR format). As long as he's reasonably healthy, he's in my lineup. It's a no-brainer, IMO. His ceiling on a week-to-week basis is just too high to try and min-max matchups with him. Other, lesser backs, yes min-maxing makes sense but Peterson should be plugged in excepting byes or serious injury. My :hifive: .

I believe multiple football teams play games in that field.
Heinz Field isn't just a destination on game days, but throughout the year. The 2009 fall schedule includes home games for the Steelers and University of Pittsburgh.
Also big rock concerts and etc go on there - lots of wear-and-tear on the surface in Pittsburgh. Much more so than, say, University of Phoenix Stadium with the movable real turf field that is babied...

The last time Aaron Smith was out of the lineup, the Pitt rush D was pretty weak. Smith just went on IR. Have no fear starting Peterson.

Am I the only person who thinks that PIT will get absolutely wrecked in this game?

There is no way Big Ben can hold the ball for more than 5 seconds against Minny and not have his face planted in grass.

The Steelers are bad this year. They haven't beat anybody. They will be exposed by a very good Vikings team. I forsee a lot of turnovers b/c they can't run the ball and they can't stop the pass rush either.

I think they beat Pitt, and not just by a little either.

This is a good strategic week for the Steelers to lay new sod.

the 12th man in stopping Peterson.

Very :wall:I'm a big Steeler fan, and I like the Vikings this this season over Pittsburgh and pretty handily, but if the new sod is soft or mushy, it really favors Pitt's passing game (DBs reaction & recovery time), and helps to neutralize the Minny pass rush. I like Peterson in this one but even more so, I like Big Ben and the recieving crew. Winfield out makes it an even more glaring weak spot and being at home, I wouldn't be so quick to lay money on the Vikings getting a win, let alone an easy one. I'd be a little wary of H.Miller's fantasy stats this week, and I hope he is used more to help with J.Allen on the backside but 'Tone and Hines should get loose. I say 140 total yards and 2 scores for Peterson this week but Brett only gets one and Pitt wins 30-24.

:wall: Oct. 14, 2009 - 9:21 a.m. ET Steelers placed DE Aaron Smith (shoulder) on injured reserve, ending his season. Smith couldn't avoid surgery to repair his torn rotator cuff, and the club couldn't afford to tie up a roster spot until mid-January. 35-year-old Travis Kirschke is slated to take Smith's spot in the starting lineup, with Ziggy Hood and Nick Eason also getting snaps. The loss of Smith hurts the Steelers' vaunted run defense, which is currently ranked second in the league.
