Everybody always says...Why is so and so ranked so low? What a useful thread. Also, wouldn't have most teams started Peyton this week anyhow even if they blindly followed the rankings?

That's...not logic.I am a believer in logic.Peyton Manning didn't beat Pittsburgh. Andrew Walter did. Therefore, Andrew Walter is obviously a better QB than Peyton Manning. Given the chance, start Walter ahead of Peyton.
No...it isn't. But hey, the beer and snacks have been plentiful today, so... it's pretzel logic.That's...not logic.I am a believer in logic.Peyton Manning didn't beat Pittsburgh. Andrew Walter did. Peter King would have.Wow. Do you really think anyone benched Manning?
I benched him for Rex this week. Too much risk with PM at Denver and Rex having a nice matchup. Both had Monster games, but Peyton did outscore Rex by 5 points anyway.Wow. Do you really think anyone benched Manning?
How does everyone feel about the rankings? I use them to break ties in my mind or settle difficult decisions. So far this year, I have missed out on some great performances by players on my team. I am time and time again reminded to stick with your guns. But, I do have players that are not consistent enough to start every week, and you must make decisions on matchups. So far this year, the matchups have not gone my way but if I made the decisions based upon sound evidence I can live with it. It has been a tough year. And, NO, you never bench Peyton Manning under any circumstance unless Week 17.And to remind myself, you never bench Wayne for Driver again. EVER!!!For all those hung up on rankings.Play who you feel will do the best for your team.

fixedHe didn't have squat on Denver in the 1st half. SO Denver on the surface looked like they could stop Indy...2nd half though Peyton and Wayne And the refs destroyed that secondary.
He's got a ways to go to even be considered the best to play with a horseshoe on the side of his head, IMHO.Byron_nyc said:We should rename this thread: "Penitience for Peyt"
I benched Peyt for Phillip Rivers this week. Early in the week, I was sure Shanahan's "Project Peyton" was paying off this year, it would be a low-scoring, low-yardage affair with lots of carries. I figured Rivers for another big day in a tailor-made matchup. I was thrilled when FBG agreed with me when its rankings came out, and had Peyton lower than Rivers. I went ahead.
BTW, I posted a topic in the AC forum: "I'm benching Peytong this week -- talk me down." No one even tried. So off the bridge I dived.
Here is the lesson I have drawn the hard way: always start your studs. Also, we all need to recognize the historic, incredible quarterback we are witnessing in Peyton Manning. If he can win ONE ring, he will enter the argument as the greatest ever.

You can't be serious. What did you think they did to help them. I only remember one call on Champ for illegal contact and that one was a no brainer correct call. The Bronco D didn't stop the Colts all day. The one punt they did "cause" happened when Clark dropped the ball that would have been a first down. The way that game went, if Denver would have been scoring more early on, the Colts likely wouldn't have kicked FG's when they had 4th and short.fixedHe didn't have squat on Denver in the 1st half. I took "enter the argument" as "on his way", I'd agree he's on his way. He's been impressive thus far but as we all know continuing to play at a high level is very difficult and QBs are often judged by rings. He's got a ways to go to even be considered the best to play with a horseshoe on the side of his head, IMHO.Byron_nyc said:We should rename this thread: "Penitience for Peyt"

How about the fumble recovery after the whistle had blown the play dead. That led directly to an easy TD to Wayne (his second). Last Monday night Bledsoe made a completion that was called a sack because he was ruled "in the grasp" I lost a fantasy game because of it.You can't be serious. Yesterday with Plummer laying on his back the whistle blows and the play is overturned anyway. Where's the "in the grasp" rule there. If the NFL wants their QB's wearing pink tutu's then they need to be consistant with their rulings. No Way should that play be over ruled.
That would have changed the way the rest of the game played out. Indy may have won anyway, but we will never know. Maybe Denver would have gotten the ball last and kicked the game winning field goal.
Now for what it's worth, I agree that it was a fumble by Plummer and the whistle should not have blown. But it did and the play should not have been reversed.
The Bledsoe reference I made earlier should not have been in the grasp. It should have been a completed pass and a first down. Maybe Dallas goes on to win that game.
Kudos to the Colts they deserve the win because the Broncos could not stop Wayne.

laughed for a good 15 seconds when I read thatWell yeah if you like 230 lb QB'sLaser, rocket arm......
Yes, like David Dodds.Da Guru - I apologize - I stand corrected. Apparently some people do need to be told not to bench Peyton Manning.
I started the thread "tongue in cheek" because of all the people complaining about so and so being ranked so low. Well Peyton gets ranked down some times as well, but you would never bench him.Yes, like David Dodds.Da Guru - I apologize - I stand corrected. Man - you don't get it at all. The new rule says that you can challenge things that happen after the whistle is blown. This is not my opinion or the opinion of other people here - that is the RULE. ???I still don't see the supposed new rule about play continuing after the whistle blows it dead.
I knew about the rule he was refering to the entire time dill rod. The referees are supposed to not blow their whistle on plays with questionable fumbles just for that reason, so they can be overturned if need be. The fact still remains that the whistle blew. The play is over right then and there. Period, end of story. No new rule can over rule the fact that the play is OVER when the whistle blows. Was it a premature whistle? Probably, unless you want to say Plummer was in the grasp. Either way, the whistle blew and no way should the play be overturned.
My gripe is about the officiating league wide, not just that one play. There is a double standard going on here. I made a reference earlier to Bledsoe getting called in the grasp last Monday. The refs are going to call that for Bledsoe because he is a statue in the backfield. They aren't going to call in the grasp for more mobile QB's like Plummer even if they are laying on their back. There is not enough consistancy in the rules.
And WTF was that call against Minnesota tonight? It was an obvious catch and fumble but the refs let Billichick talk them into calling it incomplete. Then they fail to overturn it.
Once again, the NFL officiating sucks ###
