Peyton Hillis (1 Viewer)

Mark Schlereth and Alfred Williams, who claimed on 104.3 the Fan today that it has long been common knowledge within the Broncos organization. Apparently, the story goes that Hillis – who is a single bachelor about town – made the moves on McDaniels wife, Laura shortly after they got to Denver.

It’s unclear whether or not Peyton actually knew who he was hitting on, but regardless, McDaniels supposedly got wind of it, and that was all she wrote for Hillis.
LinkA thread on a Broncos message board says that the story has been mentioned on the air several times.

I don't think she's that great.

It seemed to work out for him just the same, but I wouldn't have risked my job on her personally

Meh...she's definitely nothing special. Probably late and he was looking for a hanger on to bang. McDaniels is stupid if this is true.

I know a lot of Denver fans hate Mcdaniels but I think he gets a bad rap on the Hillis, Cutler and Marshall trades.

On Hillis. He was drafted as a FB and spent a year under supposed RB guru Mike Shanahan. Shanahan used Hillis late in his rookie year only when injuries forced his hand. Meanwhile I've never heard a report that Shanahan ever made an attempt to trade for Hillis once he landed with the Redskins. Hillis was unused in 2009. I did not see any other NFL teams make an attempt to acquire Hillis. After the Browns acquired Hillis they spent a second round pick on Hardesty who they planned on making their primary RB before he got hurt.. I'm an Arkansas homer and I've always thought Hillis was under utilized but never thought he'd be this consistently good either. I don't think the Browns or any other NFL team including his former coach in Shanahan thought he would be this consistently good either. Hard for me to blame this on Mcdaniels.

she's kinda hot .... but man, if Peyton Hills hit on my wife I'd be thinking how ####### cool is that?? Hillis, stud RB from CLE, hitting on my wife .... wow, super cool ....

I seem to remember those few times he got on the field in Denver he was making plays. He was doing pretty good until that groin injury or whatever it was. Then it was a wrap on his Broncos career. It still stings when you have a beast like that on your roster and now he's shredding the league while Brady Quinn is all you have to show for it.

>Peyton Hillis, possible reason why Denver traded him>

Oh I dunno...maybe cuz he proves over and over what a moron he is.

Cutler, Marshall, & Hillis gone.........Drafting Demarius Thomas over Dez Bryant. Moving up and giving a 1st round pick to Seattle to draft db Anton Smith in the 2nd round and then cutting him a year later.....Giving New England a 4th rounder for Maroney who's been inactive the past few weeks....drafting the brittle Knowshon Moreno over Brian Orakpo..... I NO LONGER CARE TO LIVE IN BRONCO HELL. ITS GOING TO TAKE YEARS TO RECOVER FROM THIS MORON PLAYING HOUSE WITH MY TEAM. GET OUT OF HERE AND HANDS OFF MY TEAM YOU FRIGGIN' HUMAN WRECKINGBALL. I wish Hillis would have gone down on your mother.

I'm not much a face reader (and neither is Pat Bowlen apparently) but McDaniels has a face of an angry ######ed baby.

Did Hillis say to her "I want to #### you?" McDaniels seems like an insecure d0uche.

lot's of hindsight in this thread. Neither McD nor Shanny were willing to ever give Hillis the full load and it took an injury to Jerome Harrison for Mangini to do it (even though there were all sorts of talk that he absolutely did not like Jerome Harrison one bit). Hillis is a stud now but 6 months ago he was just a guy who did decently when filling in for a full time RB. If you are bashing him for Hillis you might as well get down on your knees and give him a suckle for pulling Brandon Lloyd off of the scrap heap.

Or McDaniels is just a very poor judge/manager of talent. Did Cutler, Marshall, and Alphonso Smith also make passes at his wife?

yes because the lack of a QB and WR are what this team is missing....oh wait ;)
Would you rather have Cutler and Marshall or Orton and Lloyd? I think most people would rather have Cutler/Marshall. If McDaniels had been able to turn the other draft picks into quality players I might change my vote...but he reached for a player he quickly traded away, took a position that was always easy to come by under Shanahan, and snagged Tebow. Cutler > OrtonMarshall > LloydHillis (or whatever other rb they always plugged into the scheme) > MorenoWhere has McDaniels made up for the dropoff?

lol, absolutely classic!!!! The unfortunate thing is that most people give too much credits to "experts" and just assume that they know much more than the normal folk. In reality the experts aren't that great at all with the exception of a rare few. Some of them like mcdaniels are probably worse than the average fan. I can tell you right now that tebow will be a bust. It's very obvious to me that tebow is less than 10% the qb that vince young was, and even vince failed. These type of. QB's bust. How did they not see this? Arian foster, an undrafted FA on the practice squad? Tom brady drafted in the 7th round? Jeremiah Johnson currently can't find a job in the NFL? Ten bucks says that he turns into a stud RB if given the chance.

How is Cutler better then Orton? He may be more naturally talented but give me Orton anyday...Marshall is better then Lloyd but my point is he didnt lose anything in those trades, as he hasnt lost any production at the positions, and in the case of Orton he has improved at the position. I do believe he gave up on Smith to soon but its still way to early to call him out on his other picks imo. Lets not all act like McDaniels is the only one who didnt see Hillis producing like he has. Maybe Im wrong here but I dont remember Knowshon being this injury prone in Georgia, Im not gonna blame the guy for one of his players getting injured.

I think Hillis is great but the Denver OLine doesnt compare and the opportunity wasnt there to get Hillis rolling, no one knew he was this good.

UPDATE: HILLIS/MCDANIELS RUMOR CONFIRMED FALSE

http://readandreact.net/2010/12/03/update-...onfirmed-false/

Yesterday, we posted this story, which put forth the rumor that Josh McDaniels ran Peyton Hillis out of Denver because Hillis had put the moves on McDaniels’ wife. The rumor was originally attributed to 104.3 the Fan in Denver by a Broncos message board. Knowing that internet forums aren’t exactly the most reliable sources, we reached out to the station to confirm whether or not Mark Schlereth and/or Alfred Williams actually said such a thing on their radio show (The Drive) earlier this week.

D-Mac (the host of the show) wrote back to let us know that it is absolutely untrue, and they have no idea where that rumor got started. We’re not really in the business of rumor mongering, so we apologize for any part we had in perpetuating this one.

But regardless, we still have to question McDaniels’ handling of Hillis during their time together. And we still want to know why the coach seemingly disliked Hillis so much when he got to Denver. At the very least, the Broncos have to seriously examine McDaniels’ eye for talent, and whether or not he should be handling the personnel decisions for the team.

A common misconception. Denver was ranked 12th in rushing yards and 14th in rushing TDs despite being ranked 28th in rushing attempts. The rushing offense was highly effective despite having Michael Pittman,Peyton Hillis, Selvin Young, and Tatum Bell as their RBs.

that was 2008 in the ZBS era. Things changed in 2009 as McD transitioned the team into a power scheme.

Wow excellent post !!! I didn't really think about how destructive this guy has been. Could you Imagine Cutler throwing to Marshall and Bryant with Hillis coming out of the backfield

It wasn't the wife, it was McDaniels, and Hillis wasn't the initiator, he was the innocent prey for McDaniels lusty desires. When Hillis rebuffed the advances, that was it, he was gone. Inside that hoodie lurks a depraved beast, a sexual predator.

Unfounded rumors are fun.

All the more reason to keep a 240 lb battering ramand Mangenius knew something was there after witnessing Hillis drop 100 on his Jets in 2008

So he also made the running game weaker? Sweet jeebus this man ran Denver into the ground very quickly.

What is confirmed false is that the radio station said it. What's unknown is whether Hillis made a pass at McDaniels' wife and whether McDaniels got rid of him for that.
Since the rumor was based on a claim heard on the morning show, unless this is a weird leak of the underlying affair from someone with motive ( mcdaniels divorce attorney is one of the few I could think of) It's prolly just interblog bull####. 1 part vitriol at 2-9, 1 part watching Hillis become the #2 guy in fbgs top 250 while Quinn still sucks balls + one part rocky mountain high/cabin fever + one part adolf coors = this rumor.

In the initial post there's a link to a Broncos message board thread about it. The rumor has been mentioned on at least one other station. link That doesn't prove it's true of course, but it didn't just suddenly come out of nowhere.

And in that thread there's also links to Schlereth's twitter calling the story BS, when he's listed as one of the sources of this info.
