*** Peyton Manning Thread *** (1 Viewer)

His regular season status as one of the greatest was never in doubt.

Now he removes the post season monkey and takes his rightful overall place without so many h8ers.

I'm a huge Marino supporter...

But if you don't think Manning is going to go down as one of, if not THE greatest QB of all-time you are just delusional.

Why people hate Manning I'll never know. Guy is just phenomenal.
He is too cocky, or as a football player maybe he is just the wrong kind of cocky. He stands around the officials when they are in discussion like he is one of them. He constantly rolls his eyes and throws his hands up as if to say "wtf?"The impression he gives off is that he is the best player on the field (in the wrong way). He is, but he should act with a little more class.

What? I don't understand this at all. Guy is a peach.

He is a great quarterback, he makes great commercials but the lasting image I have of him is running away when he fumbled the ball.

The pictue of him backing away from the fumble in the most important game of his life was just disturbing.

Even Rex the anti-quarterback dove for the ball after 2 fumbles.

What will we have to talk about now?
Now he will be a true ambassador for the NFL like Bret Favre. Favre has pretty much been untouchable ever since he won league MVPs and a super bowl. If anything, if Manning's production tails off later in his career, Manning will be criticized for hanging around too long and not letting the franchise move on. About the only thing I can think of, beyond a personal scandal or something.

You mean in Super Bowl XLI?I saw him back away and thought it was a great decision. Suppose a Bears player picks it up and starts running the other way? Does Roethlisberger's tackle on Nick Harper last season ring a bell?

Drew Brees dove in for the ball and got his shoulder ripped out for it. Now that Chargers ginormous loss is the Saints ginormous gain.

The Colts went on to win the Super Bowl, despite the fumble. Maybe smarts is > then bravado.

You have just won the d-u-m-b-a-** of the year award. Congrats.

Now we have to hear how he is the greatest QB of all-time. :goodposting:
I'd rather it be him than countless other QBs. The guy's a class act all the way and is all what is good about sports.
Although I wouldn't say that he is "a class act all the way. Remember, there is the incident where he gave that female trainer an up close and personal view of his ###. He settled out of court for $300,000 (all but admitting guilt, IMO). He also seems to blame things on his teammates a bit too much for my liking. He yelled at Clark tonight when Clark slipped short of the goal line.. Ummmm, Peyton the field WAS a bit wet and slippery. All that being said though doesn't change the fact that he is one of the best QBs ever to play the game.

Well having class is most definitely a strike against you. When a person builds up credibility, they SHOULD spend that credibility to push for any number of the issues in this world that are highly controversial. Credibility isn't something to be hoarded and taken to the grave, which is what is inferred by "class".

So, yeah, Peyton has some work to do there.

It's a little premature, yes, but I think finally winning the big one will free Manning up even more. I expect one or two more championships when all is said and done. If he keeps racking up stats like he has and wins at least one more, yes, he'll probably be the best ever.Just not yet.

Best.

Of.

All.

Time.

I know the h8ers can't accept it. But, that's their problem. Peyton has his ring and a 2nd half of his career to complete.

Best I've ever seen. The ring just codifies it as part of his legacy.

I'm not sure if Peyton Manning is the greatest yet... It's tough, I'm a Steve Young guy, but Manning is right there. Also, the Colts will repeat.

I'm a Young guy, myself. Gets so little love in the "greatest" discussion.I wouldn't have a problem with either of these guys. I'd just rather have Manning, I guess.
