Peyton Manning to host Saturday Night Live on 3/24 (1 Viewer)

Took long enough. Based on his commercials alone, Manning should have been asked to host before winning a Super Bowl. And unlike Brady, Manning won't have to stoop to being in his tighty whiteys to get a laugh.

Should be a hoot, especially since non-actors/non-comedians tend to have the only funny episodes of the show lately (see Al Gore, Justin Timberlake).

I'll record it and watch it, even though I haven't watched SNL in years. I'm concerned about the writers giving him enough funny material to work with (even though it shouldn't be hard with him - just make fun of his audibling, putting some bit about comparing him with Brady's performance on the show and the pressure of doing "matching up with Brady there", and putting him in a lot of bad fake commercials throughout the show should fill 30 minutes of the show right there, but I've heard that SNL has had a terrible year).

Is he going to do the opening monologue? He's a natural for it given that he does one before every play.

More like terrible 5 years, with the exception of a few scattered skits this show stopped being funny long ago.

I'm a fan of both the player and the show -- I think it'll great. Peyton has shown in his commericials and interviews that he's game to make fun of himself, so they can go to town in so many ways. Check it out.

Why am I suddenly reminded of that scene on the Family Guy where the director is having a hard time backing the camera up enough to get all of Minnie Driver's huge head in the shot?

Honestly, you've heard wrong. There have been some stellar episodes and great skits throughout the year. Certainly not weekly, but it's had more funny moments this year than it has in a long time. However, it is a bit of a concern when the funniest episode in ages starred Justin Timberlake and former "instant gold" like Tom Hanks is now horrible!
