I think the chance is less than 50%, just because NFL QB is a brutal position. But he's got a pretty good chance compared to anyone else.

:goodposting:There is also the chance, however remote, that he decides to retire before breaking it.Voted no.

Yes, between Peyton and both Elisa's they've missed a total of like four games or somesuch. That's phenomenal.

Eli doesn't have any look of toughness but somehow he does.

I think there's a good chance he'll retire before getting to that point. I think he could possibly break it, but I could also see Peyton wanting to retire before his skills really eroded -- and don't think he would hang on just for stubborness like Brett has done. But, there's no question he is as tough as Favre...

Maybe, but the Colts need to get Peyton a little talent around him. He might seem superhuman, but carrying an NFL team on your back for decades without any help can wear down even the mightiest of shoulders.

I think it's 50-50. I could easily see him doing it but all it takes is one fluke play.

Also, keep in mind that the NFL is likely moving to an 18 game schedule. Could allow Peyton to do it in a little less time but also could make it more likely he suffers an injury.

50-50.

don't they draft offense at the top of the draft like every season?

I doubt any QB tops 297 consecutive starts.

For starters, the concussion rule alone makes it hard. 10 years ago, Favre would have taken a knock and played next week? Rogers this week? He's not going to be allowed to play, no matter how hard he wants.

Manning? He's probably the last person to have a shot, but it's a long slog....50% sounds about right to me.

Manning neither holds the ball nor runs it. He has probably taken 1/3rd the hits Favre has through the same point in his career. He has a good chance. Maybe a 20 to 30% chance if he an keep the hits to a minimum as he has so far.

:goodposting: Having watched all of Brett Favre's years in Green Bay, I know how many hits this man has taken. Some of the offensive lines he had early in his career were brutally bad. I know Peyton's got issues right now with his oline, but at least he's been in the league a long time, and isn't trying to figure out how to play the position while getting killed. Favre took a lot less hits later in his career after he figured out where to go with the ball when under pressure.I honestly don't know how anyone could put the odds at more than 10% though. I'm not saying Peyton isn't tough, I just don't think anybody has very good odds of making it through that many seasons without missing a start. I think the talk of retirement for Peyton is highly doubtful. The guy lives and dies football. He'll play until they won't let him anymore. Same as Favre.

Manning has already stated that he will play about 16 years total - that leaves only three years left, so for that reason alone he won't break the record . . .

No, Peyton will retire in 3 or 4 more seasons.

Also, nobody cares - and this poll really needed a don't care/doesn't matter option.

Favre's record is the most overrated stat/streak in the history of the NFL. Or Sports. Or mankind.

Please explain. Just how many QB's in the NFL are even in the league for 19 years? How many are able to start for 19 years? Why aren't there so many more QBs that have started more than 200 consectutive games? Oh wait..the only one is Manning and the next one is Ron Jaworski at 116. The haters can have issues issues with him but trying to diminish the consecutive starts steak just makes people look foolish.

I voted no. I think the wheels are already coming off in Indy.... somewhat. Also, his dad got pummelled in his career, somewhere I think the Manning boys (all three) have the idea of surviving to live another day planted somewhere ine their heads and always have.

Favre may be overrated, I don't think the streak is. It is a damn impressive streak.

Until Roger Gooddell switches us to a 33 game season, then he can break it just in time.
