Why Ben Roethlisberger ?
He finished as a top ten qb last season despite not being healthy to start the season. People are drafting him almost as some kind of fantasy afterthought. I'm not sure why he won't finish as a top ten qb again, but he can be drafted much, much later.
He certainly has the tools to finish as the top qb but I'm not sure the team will be forced into throwing the ball as much as the Colts. The Patriots actually have a good defense while the Colts have...well they have Bob Sanders and not too much else.
Agreed... I think its a 2 horse race for the number 1 spot this year, and I think Palmer will win it over Peyton rather convincingly... The Bengal D will put Carson in shootouts often enough and there are less questions with him this season... If your league rewards for long TD's i think this puts Carson squarely as qb 1...The Colts on the other hand just one the superbowl by running the football... They will need to do that even more this year to keep their ridiculously weak run defense off the field... In the first preseason game Peyton didnt even get off the field until there were only about 5 minutes left in the first quarter... If teams are having that kind of success on the ground it may hurt Peytons totals... Throw in the fact that he will have to get rid of the ball earlier and may take some hits due to the loss of Glenn, then you have a situation in which I would not want to spend to early of a pick on... In a start 2qb league where several qbs go early and often I would take Carson as qb1...
I don't follow your logic. The Bengals will have a terrible defense so Palmer will get into loads of shootouts...yet the Colts have such a terrible defense so they will run the ball a ton?

Reading comprehension would probably help... You are taking a small piece of what I said and making it your whole rebuttal...... The reason Peyton has a ring is because the Colts ran the ball decisively in the playoffs and superbowl... Do you think that philosophy is going to change this year..??? Of course they will still pass and of course Peyton is great but we are talking fantasy, not real football.... Also, the Bengals give up points and are not a good defense but you will not be able to simply run the ball down their throats all day like you may be able to against the colts this season.. In the first series of the year in their first preseason game the Colts defense was on the field for ten minutes.... not good... Also, a little tidbit that I forgot to add in my first post, if your playoffs start in week 14 like most leagues, Peyton plays the Ravens in Baltimore, a team that held him to 170 yards and 2 picks the last time they saw him... If you like Peyton better, good for you, so does everyone else, but I think he has more questions this year than ever before and I am giving you some reasons why I dont feel he is a slam dunk this year... If you disagree your in good company.
1. It's preseason2. 2 of their 3 best defensive starters weren't playing (Sanders and Mathis).3. They had a very vanilla game plan and started rookies.I really don't think the Colts D will be as bad as it seems right now. I actually saw potential for a faster defense with much better tackling than last season. And, just as important, that was the best special teams coverage I've seen from the Colts in a couple of years - and that is what was killing them as much as their run D last year.Plus, the last 2 seasons, they lost more pre-season games (8) than they did regular season and playoff games combined (7). How much can you take from results from Colts pre-season games? Last pre-season, Addai looked like the biggest bust of the 1st round. Now he's a 1st round pick in most fantasy drafts.

Big Ben this year.His interception rate last year was way, way too high given his 60% comp. That's a statistical anomaly that'll be significantly reduced this year.His health and state of mind were in total disarray. He's healthy now, has a new pass-friendy offense.
