Peyton owners: Anyone else get "scared Sorgi"? (1 Viewer)

Remember "Scared Straight," the documentary where they take at-risk kids into prison and have lifers yell at them and say they'll raappe them in the showers when they get locked up? Well, that's how I felt after seeing Peyton writhing on the ground and Jim Sorgi warming up on the sidelines -- like I'd been "violated" in prison.

Now, with many backup QB "handcuffs," it's not a slam dunk they can produce respectable numbers if they get the nod (Jason Campbell and Brunell, e.g.). But with the Colts passing weapons, should all Peyton owners be jumping on Sorgi right now in case the unthinkable happens, and Sorgi puts up good numbers as a sub? I know a lot depends on who your current FF backup is -- if you have Peyton and e.g. Bulger/Favre/Pennington, maybe you don't need to rush out for Sorgi. But if you (like me) have e.g. Brunell/Harrington/BJohnson behind Peyton, then maybe Sorgi would be an upgrade if God forbid Peyton got hurt.

So...Manning owners, what say you?

Hi tick,Sure, it's not a bad move. The system is definitely great with the WRs and TEs in place but I think lots of people see this more as Manning and not as much the system.

With that said, Sorgi would likely be better than some other starting QBs each week. It really all comes down to your league and what's available.

Manning doesn't get enough credit for how durable and tough he is. he literally got bent in half yesterday.

agree, thanks for chiming in. with brunell as my backup, i'd likely take a chance on sorgi, esp. if brunell gets replaced by campbell, obviously.

I think "Sorgi-in-for-injured-Manning" is definitely a better start than Brunell/Campbell or Brad Johnson right now. I would say he's a better start than Harrington, but Nick Saban has turned that team into the 1981 Chargers since Harrington took over.

Key things about Sorgi that makes him worth carrying:

1) Knows the Indy offense in and out

2) Has played well in relief of Manning, putting up solid statistical games:

16 25 168 2 0

22 31 237 1 0

21 31 207 2 1

And that's in meaningless games for the Colts - in a game that meant something, his stats could take an uptick.

3) He plays with one of the 2 or 3 best WR combos

Yeah, I would say now is the time for Manning owners with bad backups to grab Sorgi (especially after seeing Peyton almost bent in two yesterday).
