Manning's had six passes intercepted in the play-offs this year. What they have in common is that on all six occasions he was operating from the shotgun.

I'm not sure if this is completely irrelevant and just a simple result of the number of times he's been operating from the shotgun lately (more than 50% at a guess). Or does the shotgun make him more likely to throw a pick? And is it more or less likely to work against the Bears?

Partly the reason I brought this up is that Indy's total yardage from out of the shotgun is one of the proposition bets I have seen for the SB and I'm trying to work out how much they'll use it. Anyone care to guess how much yardage they'll gain from the shotgun on Sun?

A lot may depend on two fators:

1) the weather (supposed to rain)

2) how much pressure the Bears can get on Manning.

If it rains, I would think they would utilize the shotgun formation less if the ball is slick. If the Bears mount a decent pass rush, the Colts may be more inclined to use the shotgun if that helps keep defenders at bay and buys Manning a little more time to get rid of the ball.
