After the insane performance last week against the Panthes, the Iggles face those crazy Saints. For those Philly owners, are you riding the Eagles this week, or benching them in favor of a waiver pickup. If so, who?
I kept them. Broncos are best available. I didn't want to use the roster spot. Plus, I have Brees as a QB and it's a hedge on a Pick-6. NO will rack up the points, but Brees throws so much he could throw a few picks.
The rankings have the Philly defense higher than I expected. After last week's performance by both NO's offense and Philly's defense, it's hard to know who has the upper hand. Detroit is bad, but then again, Delhomme was equally as bad.
I'm rolling with Philly's defense and hoping for the best. My opponent has the NYJ defense going against Brady, so I don't feel too bad about it.
I'm considering benching the Philly defense this week. Besides having to face the Saint offense, they've also got the QB issue. I wonder if it's possible the offense puts them into some awkward positions.
I have Brees and Philly. I am thinking about starting ATL against Carolina instead. Possibly Washington against the Rams. Only problem is we have short rosters and would need to drop Phil completely to do this.
Benched them for Indianapolis. Colts playing at Miami in potential rainstorm are bound to allow fewer points than even a stout defense facing New Orleans.
"Saints coach Sean Payton has fared well in match-ups against the Eagles dating back to his days as offensive coordinator with the Giants and Cowboys. He was one of the few play-callers who could actually win more than an occasional chess match with the late Jim Johnson. On Sunday, he will match wits with Sean McDermott for the first time.
The Saints have not won in Philadelphia since October, 1991. The visitors won, 13-6, that day as two emergency quarterbacks, Brad Goebel and Pat Ryan, combined to turn the ball over six times. The Eagles can only hope that history doesn’t repeat itself this week. "
On the defensive side of the Ball I think Gregg Williams is familiar enough with the Eagles also having coached with the Red Skins and will have an affective game plan for shuting down Westbrook and forcing the Eagles to be more one dimensional.
That said I am benching the Eagles in favor of Atlanta against Jake Delhomme and Company.
Brees threw ten picks on the road last year. Philly is a great play in leagues where defensive scoring is weighted heavily and yards given up and points scored upon isn't. I think they'll get 2-3 turnovers and give up 20-28 points.
We have deep rosters with a roster requirement of carrying at least 2 defenses. I have Philly as my #1 D and Washington as filler. In week #1 Philly set our 10 year old league's defensive scoring record. Looking at the match-ups I have plugged in Washington vs. St Louis instead of throwing Philly out against New Orleans. It was a toss up at first but with McNabb out it became an easy choice. With a backup QB in there I fully expect the Philly O to partially undermine the Philly D by giving Brees multiple chances and short fields. My gut reaction tells me I can't bench the record setting Eagles, logic is telling me that without McNabb they are not the same defense. We'll see.
