Sal Paloantonio said losing Game 6 to Yankees was "childs play" compared to losing to the Cowboys on ESPN radio this morning.

For you Philly fans, is that accurate?

Not at all. Just because of the shear magnitude of the games. A regular season game against the Cowboys verses an elimination game in the World Series? Granted... Philly fans hate losing to the Cowboys more than any other team. I'll give him that. But this in NO WAY compares to losing in the World Series... really against ANY team.... not just the Yankees.

Absolutely not. Once again, Sal Pal is just spewing nonsense. There are some fans who don't care at all about baseball. But for everyone else, a playoff loss in baseball is much worse than a midseason loss in football.

I'm not a Philly fan, but I think that sounds stupid. How could watching the Yankees celebrate winning the World Series IN PHILLY, be worse than the Eagles losing to Dallas in the middle of the regular season?

Are you kidding me? Losing to the Evil Empire in the World Series is MUCH MUCH worse than losing a regular season game to the Cowboys.

Nobody but Boston and Yankee fans care about baseball. Baseball has totally imploded its own sport. Just 15 years ago it was still a major force, now not even a blip on the radar screen.

It was in NY, but your point is valid anyway. I stopped watching baseball because of the Yankees, with their going to Macy's and buying championships year after year. They ruined the sport, so I hate them more than any team in any sport.

Agreed. If this was a playoff game....MAYBE. But a regular season game vs a World Series loss? Not close.

Also, the Eagles have owned the Cowboys over the past 10 years so losing one game isn't a big deal.

Now, for the Yankees, it hurts but it doesn't hurt as much when you consider that their payroll is $6.73 billion so they clearly had an advantage from the start.

Jfor what it's worth, losing to the Oakland Raiders is/was MUCH worse than losing to the Cowboys..much worse..

The loss to the Cowboys was terrible because it touches all the points that makes being an Eagles fan frustrating. Not being able to win a close game. Having 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 and not being able to convert. Blowing away time outs. Weird coaching decisions like going for a FG down 7 with no timeouts left.

The Phillies loss was tempered because they won it last year. They destroyed the NL on the way to the WS this year. They had a punchers chance but a few bad breaks put them down too far to come back.

FWIW - WS Game 4 was much worse than WS Game 6. To have a chance to go to 2-2 with your ace in Game 5 would have completely changed the series. Instead one extra stolen base and the whole series is over. Game 6 I think many were - not resigned to losing - but knew the chances were slim.

for the people who voted the Cowboys game was much worse ... PLEASE EXPLAIN..??

As a person who lives in a suburb of philly i can tell you that winning the WS was the most important thing to happen to philly sports fans in general. I saw more phillies stuff in the last year than you can imagine. walk on any of the south jersey boardwalks and guaranteed 50% of the people are wearing phillies gear. The only championship in that city in generations. Believe me it was more important than anything. Sure they'd rather have a superbowl championship but I promise you that losing to the yankees hurt more than anything other than a superbowl loss or a stanley cup loss.

:pickle: This is how I feel as well. Its not that losing to the Cowboys has worse implications, just that the Phillies were in the WS for the 2nd year in a row having just won a championship. They lost game 6 to a better team and at their park. I'm proud of the Phils and still think they are the best team in the NL.The Eagles proved once again that Reid is a horrible game-day coach who can't manage a clock. Will get just close enough to be considered successful without really winning anything. The frustrating part was not the loss, per se, but again exposing the teams flaws that have existed for years.

That inconsistency must be hard to live with.....the way McNAbb looked last week vs. this week....the change is incredible.

No way. Philly loves the Phillies, no doubt. But it is no where close to the how they feel about the Eagles. The Phillies championship was nice, however its nothing compared to what a Super Bowl would mean to this city. (If it was still around after the riots and fires)

Well, it's too early in the season. The G-Men beat the Eagles early last year only to lose late and then get booted from the playoffs. If that loss hurt more than losing the world series then the Eagles fans(and all philly fans) are even more deranged than they get credit for. But in a football forum you probably wont find people saying the baseball championship was more important.

I voted Cowboys a little worse

If we hadnt won the world series last year, losing to the Yanks would have been #1

edit: im not a huge beisball fan

seems you two agree.I can't see how anyone can put one game in the regular season above a World Series championship. Maybe if you're in Southern California, Austin or Gainesville but that's only because one game is your season.

The Eagles will probably still make the playoffs and could still win the division.

Solid postings right here.More questions than answers exist coming out of that loss to the Cowboys. With so many questions now about the NFC East, it is hard to say if last night was a Clash of the Titans or two mediocre teams trying to will their own ways to a victory.

i think there might be just a little bias since this is a football msg board. For an unbiased view, some of my high school students were near tears on Thursday (maybe because they couldn't cut school for the parade). This morning, most didn't even know if the Eagles had won or lost because they elected to catch up on some much needed sleep.

I live about 20 minutes from Philly and am not an Eagles or a Phillies fan but before the phillies won the WS, baseball was an afterthought compared to Eagles football. I think it depends on the person b/c some of my friends are diehard Philly sports fans and would say the phillies loss hurt more but I know alot more diehard Eagles fans that hate the Cowboys more than anything.

Very true... Cowboys lose didnt mean near as much as the yankees loss .. And we can still beat the cowboys this year. And the eagles are still the best team in the nfc east. last night they never even showed up for the game and still shoulda beat the cowboys .
