Pick 1 to own for the next 2-3 seasons (1 Viewer)

slow, cold, boring winter. Help me settle on my last keeper please.

5x5 +OBP(no avg.)

4OF, 2UT

My options, with last years numbers

Eric Hosmer (1b-KC)

AB 523

HR 19

RBI 78

R 66

SB 11

OBP .334

Jason Kipnis (2b-Cle)

AB 136

HR 7

RBI 19

SB 5

OBP .333

Cameron Maybin (Of- SD)

AB 516

HR 9

RBI 40

R 82

SB 40

OBP .323

My gut says Hosmer, not close, and I love Kipnis.

But who are your other keepers and how many teams? If it's a 12-team league with 1B and 2 UT (but no CI) then maybe you have to think about what you could get at 1B if you threw Hosmer back. Then again, he's already top 10 and improving.

(Pujols, Miggy, Votto, Prince... am I 100% convinced that Teixeira is better than Hosmer for the next 2-3 years? No I am not. Same with Howard)

sorry, 12 teams- current keepers +values for next season.

If only someone, maybe two people, had thought of that earlier.... If only...

Yeah, with no MI, I think I'm OK with tossing back Kipnis and keeping Tex and Hosmer.
i was leaning towards Hosmer. Upside is too high to throw back i think...
Given the lack of options to spend that $3 if you went the route of keeping all 3 and dumping Tex, I think the safest route is to go ahead and keep Tex and Hosmer. Like franco pointed out, the lack of a MI position really diminishes the value of Kipnis. Likewise, two UT slots makes Hosmer less of a position liability.

:goodposting:Maybin isn't really worth keeping. If you're only going 48 OFers deep with most Util spots used by 1B, keeping Ells and Stanton are plenty. You can always find some gems either late in the draft or on the wire early. It would certainly be easier to replace him and Kipnis than it would be to replace Tex.

I'm having a hard time throwing Tex back. Perry seems to be high on Kipnis, which is making me second guess myself.
Sometimes when trying to do a lot of answers and boards it is easy to miss things.....BUT with only twelve teams AND no MI as someone pointed out, you don't need to keep Kipnis.....but you DO need to keep Hosmer

on a scale of Hee-Seop Choi to Pujols, where does Hosmer project?

Ya, I think this is Hosmer by a lot. If you like these other guys that much, they are likely draftable at a reasonable price.

Hosmer is so clearly the correct choice that when we bump this thread in October, it will look insane that anyone could have ever considered any of the other guys even remotely in his class.
