Footballguy
I am looking at

Jordy/Green

Then

Ajayi/M Thomas/ Demarco Murray

Then

Hopkins/  / Montgomery/ A Rodg/

Wut u got?

Love to see some completed 12 team PPR drafts from the 11th slot.

I am considering going WR/WR/WR/RB with the 11 slot this year.

Mock I am currently doing I am able to grab Jordy/TY/A Rob or possibly Kelce here/Mixon

Here are my results from a 0.5PPR 12 team from the 11 spot. Picks 3-8 went WR which left some good RBs at the turn. I think I made a mistake not taking 2 in the first 2 rounds, but the draft quickly changed form WR heavy to RB heavy after the 1st, which burned me at RB a bit.

11 Melvin Gordon, LAC RB

14 Michael Thomas, NO WR - Almost went Ajayi or Zeke, but I thought I could get Cook at the end of the 3rd and have a healthy pair of starters. This league had been WR heavy the last couple years, and started off the same way this year. I got swiped on Cook a couple picks before 35. I regretted not doubling up on RBs when I saw the WRs and RBs available at 35/38.

35 Keenan Allen, LAC WR

38 Alshon Jeffery, Phi WR  - Mixon and Montgomery were available here, but having 3 WRs with WR1 ability was too enticing.

59 C.J. Anderson, Den RB  - Wasn't a fan of this pick, but the next RBs taken were Blount, Gore, AP, Ware. I felt I needed to get a solid starter and then I would take some high upside shots later in the draft. Again, I really regretted not taking a RB in round 2 when this pick came up since Diggs and other good WRs were available. RBs were going very fast in the 3-5.

62 Jimmy Graham, Sea TE - Debated between him and Wilson here, but I was more confident in finding a QB later than a TE

83 Doug Martin, TB RB

86 DeVante Parker, Mia WR  Dolphins homer pick. Buying the hype and opportunity with Cutler.

107 Derrick Henry, Ten RB  End of the 9th seemed worth it to take a shot on his upside, considering my RB situation. Murray owner had the 2 picks between mine, so getting to snipe him for Henry also factored in.

110 Marcus Mariota, Ten QB

131 Stephen Gostkowski, NE K  - First time I have taken a kicker before the last round, but ESPN forces you to take a K, and there were lots of high upside rookie RBs available deep in the rankings that I could get late.

134Patriots D/ST D/ST  - Same reasoning as the K.

155 Samaje Perine, Wsh RB

158 Jamaal Williams, GB RB  - Seemed unusual for him to be here late, but he is buried on the ESPN rankings.

If Gordon falls (which I've seen in a number of mocks from the 11 spot) he's really hard to pass up. The dropoff at WR, even if team 12 goes WR-WR isn't all that bad. Likely to get a Jordy Nelson, Freeman, Gurley, Dez, Thomas. If you can come away with 2 of those guys, that's a strong start for a team. Preferably a RB/WR or WR/WR. I wouldn't necessarily go RB/RB, but you just never know who'll slip.

Philosophically speaking though, I find the best strategy for the 10-11-12 spot is to be as flexible as possible. Let the draft come to you. I had that spot 2 straight years in a PPR redraft D/ST league. The 1st time I had it I mocked like crazy and went into it kind of rigid planning for who I would take there. Every mock I took the same guys. When the draft came along, I ended up with a team that looked a lot like my mocks - and it was a pretty good team. But I looked at the draft board, and noticed some players sliding past their ADP that I could have had, if I'd had more of an open mind.

The next year I let the draft come to me and ended up with a much better team as a result.

Suggest mocking & trying out WR/WR, RB/RB, WR/RB, RB/WR.  But crazy things happen in real drafts that never seem to happen in mocks. Homers grab a guy 5 spots (or a round) early. Inexperienced player might make a similar reach. Or maybe a fantasy vet just has a mad mancrush on a specific player - and when you're sitting at the 11 spot, that means something will fall to you that otherwise wouldn't have. Be open to it when it gets there - it's a gift. ;)

ETA: another benefit is this: if you're planning on "AJ Green/Jordy" 1-2, if those guys get snatched up with the 9-10 picks (which is entirely likely), you won't be frustrated by missing them. Being stymied of a plan when you've got your heart set on a couple players is the best way to screw up your picks.

Also I wouldn't plan on Jordy/Green anyway - if I'm at 12 and either of them are there, they're not making it back to you. Probably true for your league-mates as well.

All the mocks I have been doing it's rare to have Jordy fall to 11th. Looking at a group of Thomas, Gordon, Freeman, Howard, Lamar, Amari for the 11/14 picks.

Not fun

Just completed our 12 team PPR league where I was drafting out of the 11th spot.  Prior to this live draft, I had completed approx 15-20 mock drafts where I drafted out of the 11th spot.  That beings said, the live draft didn't go as the mocks had prepared me for:  Completed draft:

1.11  M. Thomas WR NO  (thought I would grab J. Nelson here.  He went at 9 overall)

2.02  A. Cooper WR Oak  (thought I would land TY here.  He went the pick befor mine.  I contemplated Baldwin here and now I have  buyers remorse going with Cooper)

3.11  D. Adamas WR GB

4.02  C. McCaffrey RB Car  (surprised he fell to the 4th.  Happy to grab him here in PPR league)

5.11 J. Mixon RB Cin  (seems like a discount here in the 5th)

6.02  D. Parker WR Mia  (thought I may have reached for him here, but love his upside)

7.11  T. Coleman RB Atl

8.02  A. Luck QB Ind  (injury concerns, but if healthy great value at 8)

9.11  D. Henry RB Ten  (RB1 value if Murray goes down)

10.2  E. Ebron TE Det

11.11 E. Engram TE NYG  (reach, but this pick was made about 20 minutes after ODB went down...thought I would get a starting TE playing out of the slot)

12.2  Z. Jones  WR Buf

13.11  C. Palmer QB Ari  (need luck to be healthy.  Although, Palmer just may have the easiest first 4 weeks schedule in the NFL)

14.2  Steelers Def

15.11 J. Williams RB Buf (something tells me Buf is shopping Shady)

16.2  R. Burkhead RB NE (in hindsight, I feel I should have went with D. Henderson RB Den here)

17.11  D. Hopkins K Was

I went WR/WR/WR with my first three picks leaving me thin at the RB position.  I wish I would have pulled the trigger for a TE earlier in the draft as I really have zero confidence in Ebron.  Like I said, we were drafting and watching the Giants game.  OBJ injury looked like he would miss significant time so I drafted Engram way too early at that spot.

I've got the 10th pick in a league and I'm hoping one of AJ/Jordy/Evans falls to me. In mocks, this rarely takes place.

My biggest dilemma is ranking the RBs in the event I can't get one of the above WRs. I'm just having a hell of a time with McCoy (feel like there is a ton of team risk), M. Gordon (low YPC, TD regression), and D. Freeman (Coleman caps upside, regression possible after historic offensive ATL season).

Just hoping either Melvin or Devonta fall to me at 11, good chance I will go RB-RB if Jordy and everyone ahead of him are gone. As usual, much easier to fill the WR slots than it is RB.

Just a note on this, I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure Freeman has actually had better stats when Coleman is playing.

Beautiful draft IMO

If that happened, I'd go Freeman/Howard, but that's just me. Super stud 1-2 punch at RB. Old school. I see that as a nice start to a draft.

That said, Jordy's ADP is spot on 1.11 with AJ Green at 10 & Howard at 13. If someone before you takes Howard b/c they want a RB, or prefers Nelson to Green, you get either Nelson or Green at 11.

Draft is Saturday, still leaning grabbing Zeke in the 2nd. Someone talk me out of it.
Not worth it.  You need low risk with those early picks.  He's gonna be out for over half of the fantasy season.  Let someone else put him on their bench for 2 months

I think the guys getting DJ and Bell are going to have such an advantage over the field this year. Those guys are just going to put up so many points, and drafting from that spot also allows you to grab two really good guys at the 2/3 turn.

That said, I'm starting to think you're going to have to really swing for the fences at the back end of the draft. I'm talking something like Gronk/Brady. If these guys hit, you're going to score a ton of points at QB and TE, and that's the only way to keep up with those top two draft spots. Of course, it won't really matter until the end, but I'd be willing to bet a lot of money most championship teams will have either DJ or Bell on them.

I'm still pondering this draft spot, but I just don't think a Gordon/M. Thomas type of draft is going to let you compete with those teams.

It'd be a humongous gamble but it would be an amazing payoff.  But after more thought I am probably not pulling the trigger until the 3rd/4th rd turn atleast.

Did my draft tonight wanting to go RB heavy and punting QB. Didn't quite go that way though. Standard.

1st round: AJ green

2nd: Jordy Nelson

3rd: Lynch

4th: CJ Anderson

5th: Brees

6th: Davante Parker

7th: Rob Kelley

8th Ware(rolled the dice on injury)

9th: Ertz

10th+: Perine, Zay Jones, Kenny Britt, Foreman.

NTB - Not Too Bad.

Now, with hindsight at 11 going two RB/RB and of these four: Gordon, Ajayi, Freeman, and Elliot, which two do you like the best? I figure if I get Zeke I ride it out with a replacement until he does come back and then I have a top 3 RB. Obviously the risk is the replacement doesn't pan out and I lose too many early games? Plus, I see Ajayi moving up the rankings...Freeman?

Swinging for the fences kinda makes sense from this spot, otherwise who knows. I'm debating the traditional route or the Gronk/Brady or Nelson/Rodgers combo? Howard, Freeman, Green, Murray doesn't really thrill me with these two picks. And is Gordon, if available, the way to go? What if McCoy drops because of a poor pre-season performance? And then the Dez reach? Or Zeke ;)  ?

Drafting from a hotel lobby computer in Mallorca tonight so Meridith news didn't reach me godammit. Non ppr 11 hole

AJ Green

B Cooks

CJ Anderson

T Brady

J Graham

D Martin

T Rawls

C Meredith

T Williams

D Henry

C Hogan

J Rodgers

R Burkhead

D Lewis

R Turbin

reached on Cooks but didn't like options and Edelman down of course. Ended up NE heavy too much. Don't ever usually take an early QB. Of course, I have been screwed by Meredith but I still think there is a semblance of a good team there. Obviously need to drop two for a def and K at some point

You probably aren't going to be able to pair Freeman and Gordon, but if you can that would be my choice.

I think I would wait to take Zeke until Ajayi and Howard are off the board. After those guys are gone, I think it is worth the risk of not having him until week 8.
