Pick 2 Keepers.. (1 Viewer)

12 team PPR League.  1 point for every 10 yards receiving/rushing.  6 points for TD.  We start 1 QB,  2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 2 Flex.  Pick 2 keepers from below...

Michael Thomas, Todd Gurley, James Conner,  Derrick Henry,  Amari Cooper.

As of now Michael Thomas is a lock, but I'm unsure of my 2nd keeper.  I'm leaning Gurley or Connor, but I'm not sure which one I prefer.  Both have some question marks headed into the season.

Are there any costs to keeping any one over the other (salary cap, draft pick loss, etc)?  Is there a limit to how long you can keep a player?

Assuming the answers to my questions are "no", I would keep Thomas and wait to see how it looks like Conner is being used in conjunction with Samuels.  I am not sold on Gurley's health and usage so he is a huge question for me.  If I knew that Conner would get 90% of his workload from last year it would be Conner easily for me.  If it looks more like a 60-40 split then I probably roll the dice with Gurley.

Any way you can package Gurley and Conner to another owner for a safer elite option? Maybe someone has one good keeper and nobody else so getting those two improves his overall keepers but you get a guy that is safer.

There are no costs or restrictions to keeping a player.  I just pick 2 players from my roster every year, and I can keep them as long as I want.

As of now our trading is locked, so any sort of packaging of players like that would have needed to been done in the regular season before the trade deadline.

I agree with your assessment of the players though.  I will definitely hold off on making a decision until as late as possible.  Hopefully having an idea about the health/usage of both players.

I keep hearing all the "experts" say Conner and Samuels will be a BFBC, and thats the complete opposite I have heard and read from Steeler beat reporters and anyone around the team, and I live in pittsburgh.   Had he played 16 games last year he was going to be around 1700 total yards and 15 TDs.   I dont know if he gets that, but I do expect the Steelers to run a bit more this year.

I'm not saying keep him, but it would certainly be between him and Gurley for me, I'd wait until last minute to see what is happening with Gurley, and if you arent 100% in on him, Conner is a fine "fall-back" plan.

Thanks for the insight.  I have to say that it is between Gurley/Conner for me and I'm 50/50.  I will wait as long as I can to make a decision and I personally like Conner.  I know that shouldn't affect a fantasy decision overall, but if I'm 50/50 and not 100% sure on Gurley, I am fine with falling back on Conner.

Yeah I'd go Thomas for sure and Conner. Conner at least has the upside vs. Gurley. I think Conner's upside and higher floor makes him the safer pick.
