PieLeeg HQ: Magic Beisbol Extravaganza (1 Viewer)

Kudos to the teams at the bottom of the standings still battling it out! Always great to see.
I'm not at the bottom of the standings (at least for now), but I ain't gonna lie, I'm becoming disinterested.
I've made moves; some good/some bad.
But what's killing me is what pussies these guys are. Maybe I'm just used to hockey, but missing half the season (and counting) for a bruised shin (I'm looking at you, Tucker) is absurd.
It's August and I'm 40 points out of 3rd place (pay top 3, right?) so I'll try and maintain starting lineups and whatnot, but it won't be the same level of effort.
55 days til the puck drops on the 2024/2025 season; can't wait.

We all know what it's like to be out of it at this time of year but even just keeping a healthy lineup is good for the league overall and appreciated.
Ready for football and hockey too!

It's bad enough being in 12th without the Yahoo crapp update.
Yeah, it sucks. Desktop hasn't changed but the app is horrible. I have to go to individual players for updates, the list doesn't update. Getting used to navigating but it's annoying.

Would there be any interest in a Pie Pucks Leeg w/ a similar buy in/roto format?
I haven't followed the NHL closely in 20 years but this might be a good excuse to get back into it.

Just looked at a fantasy hockey rankings list and I recognize 4 of the top 40 names. :oldunsure:

You guys should've received an email from Yahoo on this, but just in case: The Monday games between NYM and ATL will be available to be used if you still have GP or IP available.

We've got a tasty 3-team race for 2nd place. Good luck!

Thought this was going to be a hockey post
I'm respecting the grind this weekend. Let's talk pucks after we crown Sparty.

(and give it a few more days to see if the FFA pucks league is going to happen or not ... which could give us a bunch of interested players)

Congrats Sparty on a great season. I had a nice run mid-season but my team tanked for most of September.
Impressive job by shady on the final weekend too.
I do have a question. The max innings shows at 1400 but shady shows in at 1437. Do stats stop counting at 1400 or is there a loophole that allows you to go over on the day you hit your max? Just want to know if that's the case for next season.
Thanks again for a smooth season commish!

Let Go Mets!
I think if Diaz covers first base yesterday and gets out of the inning, I would have wound up in 3rd in Pie. smh

The way you described the loophole is accurate. Just on the day you hit your max.

Congrats to Sparty!

Interesting...did not know that. Something to remember.

Congrats to Sparty for becoming a 2-time Pie Leeg champ! He won't have to share the title this time.

Here's a breakdown of the winners:

1st - @Spartans Rule (800)
2nd - @shady inc (400)
3rd - @jamny (200)

Thanks all.

One of the best drafts I’ve ever had. I always get burned in this league chasing high-risk potential aces, so this year I decided to double down on that strategy with Glasnow and Skubal and it actually worked.

Thanks @RnR for running this again and congrats to the other $ winners.

Overall I am happy with my performance finishing 8th. I think the last time (only time?) I was in this league I finished 15th. I assume I'll jump another 7 spots next year.
:bowtie:

Retrospectively...
Best draft pick: 26.08 (pick 383) Paul Skenes / P / PIT

I thought he'd be good, but not this good and not this soon.
11 wins
170Ks
1.96 ERA
0.95 WHIP
Finished 27th, 5th best fantasy pitcher

Worst draft pick: 3.08 (pick 38) Nolan Jones / OF, 1B / COL
28 runs
3 homeruns
28 RBI
5 SB
0.321 OBP
Finished 806th
I can't recall who questioned him being a top 40 pick, but they were proven absolutely correct. At that ranking (not all due to injury), maybe he shouldn't have been drafted at all. :D

Best free agent: Lawrence Butler / OF / OAK
63 runs
22 homeruns
57 RBI
18 SB
0.317 OBP
Finished 133rd
Undrafted in the PieLeeg. I'm not sure if anyone picked him up before me and subsequently dropped him, but if you did, thanks.

I dropped Butler after a couple of weeks.
You're welcome

Congrats Sparty.

I am happy I got out of last place. Next year o plan not to loE my 1st, 4th, 9th and 10th rou d picks for most of the year. It's an unideal way to start the year off if you want to compete.

First time in many, many years doing roto style. It's a different beast for sure.

All 4 winners have received their funds for 2024.

And, with that, we'll get beisbol shenanigans cranked back up for Season 11 when pitchers and catchers start reporting. Be thinking of rule changes we can argue about in the meantime.

Regarding the Pie Pucks Project ...

I have ...
@HellToupee , @kupcho1 , @Spartans Rule , @expos123 , @Gally , @greedygoat , @Chemical X written down as interested parties. That gives us 8 if you're all in. I made a post in the FFA league thread to recruit a few more. If you know someone who wants in, send 'em my way.

Basic premise:
8x4 Roto (G, A, P, PP points, +/-, Shots, Hits, Blocks for skaters; W, GAA, Sv%, Saves for goalies)
24 round draft. 18 starters: 3 C, 3 LW, 3 RW, 5 D, 2 UT, 2 G. 6 regular bench slots, 5 IR+ spots, and an NA spot.
100 buy in. Probably cap it at 14 teams.

Live draft on Yahoo one night before the main slate starts next week.

I'll get the league set up on Yahoo and nail down the rules/draft day soon-ish.

Too rich for my blood. I know even less about hockey than I do baseball and you saw how that turned out..
