Pierce out indefinitely (1 Viewer)

The New York Giants announced LB Antonio Pierce (neck) as diagnosed with a bulging disc in his neck Friday, Nov. 20, and he will be sidelined indefinitely, according to the team's medical staff. Pierce originally suffered a burner Oct. 25 and experienced very little discomfort until practicing this week. Pierce said, "I had no idea that what happened a few weeks ago could keep me off the field. I didn't think it was that serious. I'm going to do everything the doctors tell me to do so I can get back out on the field as soon as possible."

Does Blackburn move in or does Goff get a chance?

I'd really like to hear from some of the IDP brains-trust on this one......Goff getting the role was my first instinct......I'd pick him up ASAP in any dynasty league where he is still available.

I live in the area and listen to all the sports talk radio;

Piece is done as a Giant IMO... and maybe as a football player. He has looked terrible since last yr. NO way can he be the leader on a Defense anymore and a MLB. He might be able to return to a team as a role player but hes done as a full-time player.

Whenever Piece has missed time, Blackburn has gotten his reps so I would pick him up 1st. Then take a filer on Danny Clark or Goff; I think Clark will get 2nd chance before Goff.

I would for sure go after Blackburn 1st...

Thanks for the heads up on this one, dude.

No Prob... I already dropped Piece for Blackburn in the one league that Black was still available in.For some reason the Giants Pass rusher has been lacking... and the lack of the pass rush really has exposed Piece. He can't cover anything. Piece is a great Vocal leader and locker room persona; but he can no longer back up his voice with his playing on the field. Atleast he got his ring in one of the best Superbowls ever played.

Goff will get a shot before opening weekend 2010. It could come by year's end in a full time or rotational capacity, but for now I agree that this job is Chase Blackburn's.

Ralph Vacchiano, of the New York Daily News, reports New York Giants LB Antonio Pierce (neck) will likely miss up to six weeks, and possibly longer, due to a bulging disk in his neck. LB Chase Blackburn figures to start at middle linebacker in Pierce's absence.

Ralph Vacchiano, of the New York Daily News, reports New York Giants LB Jonathan Goff is an option to start at middle linebacker while LB Antonio Pierce (neck) is out of the lineup.

Blackburn, who had three tackles and four assists last Sunday, is likely to start again at middle linebacker this week.

Analysis: Jonathan Goff might be more in the mix, but we'd expect Blackburn to get most of the work.

Goff didn't even register a tackle. Boley was the big winner.
