Pineda to Yankees? (1 Viewer)

Carp came back from this?
When he signed with the Cards from the Blue Jays, he was recovering from a torn glenoid labrum. He sat out a year before he ever pitched in a Cards uni.
People don't remember him as a Blue Jay - yet another credit to Dave Duncan. The kid has done alright since his "comeback", I'd say.
He was decent as a Blue Jay (considering the era), but he hit a brand new level with the Cards. And this was AFTER labrum surgery.Other pitchers that have made comebacks (with varying success) from labrum surgery include Bartolo Colon, Erik Bedard (pretty good this year with the Pirates), Ted Lilly, and two pretty big names who turned out just fine after labrum surgery: Curt Schilling and Roger Clemens.Edit: Clemens was 22 when he had his labrum worked on. Pineda is 23. Just saying.

Yankee announcers were speculating that he tore the labrum on his last pitch of his rehab assignment. Not sure how or why they would know that.

Pineda is throwing 4 innings/50 pitches in Tampa tomorrow. His fastball is said to be up around 95 mph.

***Fantasy nerds... might want to stash him now. They are hoping to see him in the Bronx by the All-Star break.

Montero sent down. What a crappy trade for both teams
Still too early, obviously it's been a lousy 15 months for both, but neither of these guys are even 25 yet.

Pineda's fastball sat near 93 mph all afternoon and he reported no issues with his surgically-repaired shoulder. The right-hander is expected to make one more start at the Yankees' spring complex before heading out on a minor league rehab assignment.
stashed

Its over Johnny. I doubt this guy has the heart to come back, he was a 6'7 freak of nature thrower who came to a new team in his sophmore season out of shape. It doesn't sceam intestinal fortitude to me. I'm sickend by this whole thing.
Its early, but I'm very happy to be wrong about this. I don't know what the future holds, its been two good stars, but I can't say he didn't show a dedication and determination to get back. I hope that shoulder holds together and the pine tar doesn't run out!

Seriously though, great to see that smile after the game, that was a huge effort in a "big game" ( people around me were already panicking at 4-5)

Total disaster.
How we doin here?
Well yeah, obviously things turned around.

Sports are funny. Montero totally craps the bed and basically ruins his career (although he's off to a hot start this spring and I imagine will be back in the majors soon) and Pineda makes it back from the worst injury a pitcher can have. Crazy stuff.
