Pitt Offense this week against GB Defense (1 Viewer)

im having a hard time benching Santonio Holmes against GB in favor of Kenny Britt against the Fins. Supposedly the Steelers took a lot of flak for passing so much last week and are expected to bring a run-heavy game plan against the Packers this week.

The steelers have been strugggling of late and i was wondering if they'll be able to stick with the run against GB, especially if Gb jumps out and takes the lead. Seems like the reason theyre passing so much is that they can;t run, so why would we expect them to be able to run successfully against the Pack? Titans have an easier matchup going against the Fins but if Steelers have to pass to stay in the game, Holmes might be a better start than Britt. WHat do the homers think about the Steelers ability to run against the Pack?

No friggin' way Arians is going to call a grind-it-out-on-the-ground offense. The Steelers will certainly run the ball but Arians wouldn't even commit to the run on third-and-short situations with 40 MPH winds in the freezing cold against the NFL's worst randked run defense.Plus the Steelers secondary is putrid and the Packers are going to take full advantage. I would say Steelers WRs are a good play, assuming the o-line gives Ben any protection (which isn't necessarily a safe assumption).

 GB D isn't really a sack machine so the pass protection for Ben will be important, but attainable. If the weather cooperates and there aren't bad conditions, I could see this one being in the high 40's for point totals.

thanx for the info ... i dont follow much Steeler ball which is why i always want to hear what the homers have to say.

It is really tough to bench Santonio right now. I know the Packers secondary is tough, but him and Ben have a really good chemistry right now. With Wallace being a deep threat and Hines and Heath working the underneath patterns - Santonio is making a living off the intermediary routes. I am playing him with confidence.

for Holmes/Ward owners, question is who does Woodson cover?

This is my question too. I'm trying to decide between Holmes and Beanie for my flex spot. If Holmes draws Woodson, he's out of my lineup.

Woodson has been awesome this year, but not shut down like Revis has been. Last week Deven Aromasudu scored a Td on Woodson and maybe Johnny Knox's TD was on him also, but not 100% sure on that one. Those two guys had good days last week, so I wouldn't sit Holmes just because of that.If Woodson locks on one guy, I would assume it would be Holmes, but don't know for sure.

At least one of those TDs came against Tramon Williams. I'm hoping they put Woodson against Holmes. If Ward is as dirty as everyone says, I don't want him anywhere near Charles Woodson. He goes down, the season is over.

Knox had a nice play on Woodson, the TD to Aromasudu was the same play...kind of the fade stop to the back shoulder.Knox's TD was on Tramon Williams though.

Woodson usually does not just lock one person...moves around a lot.

I almost think it would be Ward and let the speedier Williams deal with Holmes and Wallace.

Packers have been tough on the run and so I would expect the Steelers to throw plenty. I would think Santonio will have a solid day. I don't think Woodson will be exclusively on Holmes. I would guess Tramon get Holmes most of the time as the Packers like to keep Woodson closer to the line and freed up to make plays.

I have Holmes and wondered whether Woodson would cover a healthy Holmes, a banged-up Ward or split. Then I looked at FBG's projections, clicked on GB under WR matchups and came up with the following:

Johnny Knox, Devin Aromashodu, Kelley Washington, Michael Crabtree, Roy Williams, Percy Harvin, Bernard Berrian (twice), Sidney Rice, Chad Ochocinco and Devin Hester all put up startable WR numbers.

Some of those names aren't exactly WR1 material. So plays can be made in the passing game despite the presence of the two corners. I'm probably talking myself into playing Holmes but I am going to do it.

No friggin' way Arians is going to call a grind-it-out-on-the-ground offense. Hasn't Arians been catching a ton of flak for his pass heavy game plans?

Al Harris is gone. Chuck has been great near the line of scrimmage, but not so much deep and T.Williams has been toast. I like Holmes and am cool on Ward.

how about Grant vs the steelers D....The Steelers rank No. 1 in run defense, but are beginning to fall back to the pack. They served up a whopping 171 yards to a Browns backfield in Week 14 that consists of former University of Arizona backup Chris Jennings, Jerome Harrison, and career special teamer Joshua Cribbs. Ryan Grant returns from his best game of the year (144 yards, two TDs on 22 touches) and can be considered a rock-solid RB2. The Steelers have size but lack quickness up front, creating something of a mismatch against a Packers offensive line is highly athletic and uses lots of zone blocking.

Mauler Chris Kemoeatu is OUT this week, and center Justin Hartwig is gimpy.

G.B. has the 2nd-ranked rushing defense and Pitt is pass happy, so Mendenhall is on my bench.
