Pittsburgh at Minnesota (1 Viewer)

Cassel already impressing me. Seems to make decisions so much quicker than Ponder. Also doesn't seem afraid to let the rock rip. On a side note the Vikings should ditch the purple on purple look because this purple on white looks old school and crisp.

With good play from Cassel anyway he keeps Ponder on the bench going forward??

Unfortunately I don't think so. Would be nice to see Cassel put up 3 or 4 touchdowns in this game to give them something to think about for the bye week.

Personally not seeing much from Cassel that we don't see from Ponder. I think the differences seen so far (deep trys) are more play calling than QB. Granted Ponder might not throw some of those balls because there is no separation, but I think in general that is a good thing, as we have seen Cassel almost picked off twice now, once on the real deep ball to Patterson. The deep play to Jennings was all Jennings run after catch.

Not a Ponder apologist, but so far I don't see a controversy brewing to this point in the game. Am glad we get a chance to see what Cassel brings to the table.

Ten point lead at the half. Could this be the fourth week in a row that the Vikings crap the bed in the second half?

Good post here. I think Cassel is Ponder plus a few years. Which shows you who we would end up with if Ponder keeps his job.

The only QB on the roster we don't have a clear read on is MBT. Outside of him, this team goes nowhere without a completely different answer at QB.

Cassel's first game this year. If he gets any timing down at all with the receivers he will leave Ponder in the dust. Which is about the faintest praise ever.

Cassel's stat line is very Poner-esque, I however like that he doesn't sit back there and look like he's trying to figure out an algebra problem. Sling that rock !

Nope, I don't see rust. I see what Cassel has always looked like when he played. Ponder will be back in there in 2 weeks. I would love to see Cassel show Ponder up, but it hasn't happened yet, and I'm not holding my breath.
