Pittsburgh Broadcaster Bill Cardille Passes Away (1 Viewer)

Most certainly not of interest to most here but I just wanted to acknowledge the passing of a Pittsburgh legend.   Bill Cardille was best known for hosting the local late Saturday night show "Chiller Theater" that showed horror and science fiction films along with humorous skits featuring himself and small cast of weird characters.  The show began in the early 60s and ran for more than 20 years and was responsible for his nickname "Chilly Billy".

His career started in the 1950s in Stuebenville and then in Pittsburgh when he was the first broadcaster for TV station WIIC Channel 11 when it first aired. He worked for the station for almost 50 years in virtually every role possible.

He also hosted the program Studio Wrestling which at one time was the most watched wrestling program in the United States.  He also made a few appearances in films including the original "Night of the Living Dead".  His daughter Lori played the lead in the film "Day of the Dead".

RIP, Bill.   You were a big part of my life growing up and you will be missed.
