i think people voying for parker either have him or want him and its wishful thinking. and yes i know the HC said its open game. haynes will most likely get them he is the bigger back. sorry guys but its wishful thinking.

I posted this in another thread. It tells me that the jury is still out on who will be the guy.

Steelers | Team was trying to land Duckett

Published Wed Aug 23 9:50:00 p.m. ET 2006

(KFFL) Adam Schefter, of the NFL Network, reports as late as Tuesday, Aug. 22, the Pittsburgh Steelers were trying to acquire RB T.J. Duckett. They were offering a fourth-round pick to the Atlanta Falcons for Duckett. Pittsburgh felt Duckett could be a back who would help the Steelers replace RB Jerome Bettis. Atlanta thought it could get more back than what the Steelers were offering and, in the end, the Falcons turned out to be right.

Jury is still open on if the Falcons turned out to be right. I think I'd rather have a 4th round pick than that scrub Lelie.

Cowher announced today that there would be no goal line back. So if it's first and goal it will be Parker. If it's third and goal it will be Haynes. No wishful thinking involved, just paying attention.

I'm a huge Homer for the steelers and my take on it is as such. I think we'll see some interesting things on the goaline. Steelers like to mix things up a bit. You might see some crazy line ups. I heard one practice they put James Harrision (An outside Linebacker) in the RB posittion.

This is my guess at what order the top scorers will be from the goaline.

Veron Haynes

Heath Miller

Willie Parker

Ben(He loves the bootleg)

I think Duece might not be around

Parker will be goal line back

The News

Steelers coach Bill Cowher revealed during a press conference Wednesday that running back Willie Parker will stay on the field in goal-line situations, at least to start the season. "If somebody starts to surface and becomes that guy, as the season goes on I wouldn't rule it out," Cowher told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "But I can't say right now there's been one person like there was with Jerome [bettis]. And I don't think that's a bad thing."

Our View

Neither Verron Haynes nor Duce Staley stepped up to claim the job, and lost in the shuffle is the fact that Parker first turned heads in Pittsburgh with his goal line abilities in his previous two training camps. Haynes will be the third-down back, so don't look for big receiving numbers from Parker. That said, if he adds even half of the 10 touchdowns Bettis typically scored from in close to his already solid stats, suddenly he's a borderline top-10 fantasy back.
