Plax placed on IR Non-Footbal related injury (1 Viewer)

Not surprising...thought I would mention it
To say he is done as a NYG is premature... actually, completely incorrect at this point. He IS done for this year... but what happens after that is still VERY uncertain.
Not a betting man, but I would bet Plax has played his last game as a NY Giant. You can bet on that!
Then why did you state he is "Officially done as a NYG"? There is nothing official about that at all... it's factually incorrect, officially.

I think the Giants were sorry they signed Plax to the extention and will most likely use this as the way to rid themselves of him.
The Giants did an awesome job on the contract making many of the bonuses escalators vs. incentives or signin,g putting them on the hook for very little $ (actual or cap wise) should they cut/trade him.

Note to Jerry Jones, Mike Brown and all other owners in the NFL: This is how a class organization handles the bad 'problem children' by putting no one above the team.

The team and the organization is bigger than any one player.

Big ups to the Giants front office for staying true to the standards of Wellingon Mara.

Agreed. I'm glad their going to run this thug out of town.

Without that thug you do not win the SB last year. And I have a feeling, as good as the Giants look right now, they will not this year without Plax.

Just my 2 cents.

I will never forget Plax for what he did last year for the team. He played most of the year with a torn achilles tendon, I believe, and soldiered right through it and even dominated to help the Giants win.Having said that, past performance does not excuse present or future behavior. The team took a hit talent wise but I'm used to seeing them overcome player losses that they can't overcome. I heard the same thing last year when Shockey went down to injury and again in pre-season when Osi went down. I'm not over-confident in my team, but I'm proud of them and expect them to move on and play a focused game of football every game.

Please get off your high horse the NFL would have suspended Plax indefinetly had the Giants not (see Michael Vick, Pacman Jones, and Bryant McKinnie all these guys were suspended indefinetly or in the case of McKinnie 4 games with pending court cases.) Also it was in the best interest of the Giants to suspend since they could recoup game checks. If the Giants are "staying true to the standards" why not cut Pierce immediately since he attempted to hide evidence and also committed a felony by taking a gun across states lines? Also since we are on the subject why no discipline for Kareem McKenzie who was arrested for DUI a day or two before a game but yet he was allowed to play? The Giants are hardly the pride of the NFL regarding discipline, dont fall victim to the ESPN hype.

I am very interested to see how this suspension affects his $1M roster bonus (3rd installment of his signing bonus) that is due on 12/10. Obviously it doesn't get paid since he is suspended, but does it get forfeited or just postponed? If postponed, do the Giants need to make an additional move to cut him prior to 12/10? I would bet someone (Peter King?) writes an article about this that gets published tomorrow.

Not on a high horse, just proud that the Giants took swift actual in an extreme situation. As far as Pierce and Bradshaw, no charges have been filed and there are multiple stories floating around so disciplinary action seems to be premature for them.I'm not going to defend every player discipline action here. Again, I think the Giants did the best thing for the team and organization by suspending Plax for the season and the post-season even though it takes away from the talent on the field. Furthermore, I realize I am biased here and have invited the chides of fans of some other team but I do think that the Giants are one of the franchises that are the pride of the NFL in many aspects thanks to the legacy of Wellington Mara and the Mara and Tisch families.

Let's not try mixing apples and oranges here.

I'm happy for a fresh thread as I haven't chimed in once on this whole issue.

Plaxico the WR is one of the best in the NFL, let me repeat that Plax the WR is one of the best in the NFL. That said, what he did endangered the life of himself and Pierce and Bradshaw, he should know better but he made a decision to not do the right thing. I can't see how Plax will ever wear a NY GIants jersey again.

And I believe that this issue right now is as hot as the Michael Vick dog issue was 2 summers ago and the pressure in new York is going to build. Even the mayor seems all to eager to pile on Plax, maybe they should have taken better care of him(Bloom) and gotten him a luxury box or invited Bloom to more games. I think the GIants even at 11-1, have a chance to finish 12-4 perhaps...and maybe lose the #1 seed to TB or Carolina in the NFC South if either of them can run the table the rest of the way...winner of this week's game will have a lot of momentum.

Plax will be missed...don't fool yourself into thinking Toomer and Hixon will cover things up. I think an expanded role of Ward in the RB2 spot should be expected, he already has a big game ootb last week, look for that to continue...but when they really need a big play, they have no one like Plax. Burress was their Steve Smith of sorts, now they are going to be missing him.

Giants odds of repeating now...less than 50% I think, maybe much lower with this whole circus. Yes they watched Tiki retire, Shockey leave, Strahan retire, Osi go down this past summer...but this story has taken on a life of its own.

I talked to JT (Wannabee) tonight and he pointed out that the law was probably put into place so they could lock criminals up when they don't ctach them red handed. Maybe the prosecuter cannot prove that Thug 123 actually shot someone but he can pin the weapon on him/her and send them to jail for awhile, getting them off the street. I don't think the law was ever intended for something like what Plax did, however I also think he will have an army of lawyers and they will plea this thing down hard. Mayor or not, and of course the Mayor is going to capitilize on this free publicity and talk tough, no surprise there.

I don't think Plax is a thug, I do think he is bad at decision making...remmeber him spiking a live football in pittsburgh his rookie year IIRC?

This is actually a fact. His career in a NYG uniform is over. It isn't the OP's problem that you can't see into the future like the rest of us.

The law you are talking about says that if we catch you with a loaded gun (regardless of whether or not you used it) and convict you of a Class C felony, then you will serve AT LEAST 3.5 years in jail. This is one of the two charges filed against Burress right now. Honestly, I think this situation is absolutely part of the thinking behind the law. The law is designed so that people think twice about whether or not it's worth risking their freedom to simply carry a loaded gun on them in public without a permit. Public safety is put first here and the law is saying that you won't be carrying a gun in our community. Plax did and now he is being charged with a crime and will likely do jail time since the Manhattan DA's office has set the precedent of not pleading down Class C felony charges any lower than to a Class D felony (minimum two years served jail time).

You realize that Wellington Mara who supposedly set some standard on putting no one above the team owned the team back then.

Mara was one of the finest owners in the history of the NFL. I say this as someone who has always hated the Giants.

Do you know anything about Wellington Mara, what he did for the NFL, how he helped players during and after their careers? Seriously.
