I just got out of a meeting, and big Titans fan at work says to me, "Hey guess who my Titans just got? Plaxico Shotgun Formation Burress." (His nickname not mine).

Not thinking anything of it, I just wow, that's interesting. We'll see I guess.

He walks away, and I come to the SP, and nothing, and search Google for this and nothing.

Is my co-worker messing with me?

I'm a Browns fan, so it's not like I have a vested interest in this.

He's out in the warehouse now, so I won't get a chance to ask him more.

I didn't question him on this, but I will once I see him again.I wouldn't put it past him to be joking around, but it was so out of the blue.

Jeff Fisher would never agree to coach Burress...not to mention, his WR corps could be pretty decent this year after the draft....just sayin'...

 
Although I very much doubt that the Titans are a potential destination, I suspect as soon as there is a trial date set that is past the end of the season, you will see a team sign Burress to a 1-year contract.

I doubt Goodell will suspend him before a trial.

I still think the Bears rumors are most credible.

Titans will not go after Burress or Marshall...they don't want that type of player around this core of guys right now.

They seem fine with their receiving options now after the draft. I just don't see it ever happening...especially with any possible suspension.

 
No one is going to touch Burress until they know what will become of him and his trial. Why would they waste their time, energy, and especially $$ if he's going to be behind bars for awhile, not to mention get slapped with a suspension?

Because he doesn't go to trial until after the 2009 season. I think this is correct. :goodposting:ETA: If he indeed doesn't got to trial until 2010 then that means it is up to Goodell to take action. Normally I think he waits until a player is actually convicted of a crime. Considering no person was injured (well except for Plax) he should be allowed to play this year. My opinon is Goodell suspends him for 4 games. It's reduced to 2 after appeal (i.e. Marshall 2008) and a team like Bears/Bucs sign him to a one year tender.Plax ends up as a Top 20 Fantasy WR in 2009Plax's case ends up going to the Supreme Court based on that crazy NY law about mandatory 3 year sentences for gun possesion and this goes on for years.THE END.

But if everyone is going to pounce if his trial is delayed until after the season, why not sign him to a 1 year contract now. If he is suspended, I do not believe the team is on the hook for the money (cap yes, but not actual dollars). Plus if you approached him now, wouldn't you get a better deal than once he is cleared. i guess it would take a team with good cap space to take the chance he etas up your cap money in jail, but wouldn't it be worth the risk for one of the teams that tends to be cheap?

 
Literally just spoke to him, and he wasn't joking. He said he heard it from another co-worker here who is also a huge Titans fan.

I never see that guy around, so I won't get a chance to ask him, but I asked the guy I spoke with to ask him.

 
My son told me that his pet fish said there are no thruth to these rumors. I'm not sure the pet fish is a credible source though? :thumbup:
