Burress misses practice with neck-shoulder injury

The Associated Press

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - New York Giants receiver Plaxico Burress and offensive tackle David Diehl missed practice on Wednesday, while middle linebacker Antonio Pierce returned to work after missing last weekend's game with San Francisco.

Burress, who created headlines on Sunday with a sideline exchange with coach Tom Coughlin, missed the practice with a shoulder injury and a stiff neck. Diehl was out with a back problem.

Coughlin expects Diehl to return on Thursday, but did not say when Burress was due back.

Pierce missed the Giants 29-17 win over San Francisco with a quad injury.

Par for the course for Plaxico and allot of veterans get Wednesday's off. However the determination of whether or not Hixon gets picked up again will be made using today's info.

FWIW, he missed another practice today.

Plaxico Burress-WR- Giants Oct. 23 - 12:20 pm et Plaxico Burress (neck, shoulder) missed a second straight practice Thursday. It's time to grab Domenik Hixon if you have the room, although the New York media has not seemed at all concerned with Plax's absences. Remember, he practiced maybe once or twice all last year and didn't miss a game. Still, check back Friday. There's a good chance he'll be listed as questionable.

I'll be surprised if he sits out the Steelers game. He is going to want to play his old team...
Exactly. He'd have to be on his death bed to miss his return to Pittsburgh. In a battle of 5-1 teams that is the national 4:15 game, Plax will clearly be ready to go.

Agree 100% but I do think if Hixon is on the waivers and you have play room - add him for sure. You will sleep better.

Boy, this is just my luck lately. :ptts:From Rotoworld:

Plaxico Burress-WR- Giants Oct. 23 - 3:31 pm et Plaxico Burress had to be hospitalized temporarily Thursday due to soreness in his neck.Tests revealed no structural damage, but Burress' neck hasn't made much improvement since last weekend and his status for Week 8 is up in the air. "They say there’s nothing bone, no vertebrae, nothing like that," coach Tom Coughlin said. "He’s very sore, still stiff." Plax hasn't practiced yet this week and there's a real chance he'll have to sit out against Pittsburgh.

Yep. Hixon is a definite add unless you have something else you can hold out till a late game for.

$5 transaction fees.. and I don't have a spot on the roster for Hixon if Plax is not delared OUT in the next 2 hours... Guess I'll have to take my chances.. and Ocho Cinco has a 4 o'clock game as well if he IS declared OUT at gametime.

I'm not sure I agree with the abbreviation. The point of saying things like "kup" is to snarkily remind the person that not one single solitary person, not even someone in their own league who happens to be reading this board, G.A.S. The acronymization of such may turn it into an inside joke of sorts, but if all we said was WGAS, IDGAFF, TN/EAD, and so on, would anyone ever really learn? Damn it, red, you're better than this.

BURRESS TAKEN TO HOSPITAL

New York Giants receiver Plaxico Burress was briefly hospitalised on Thursday because of a neck injury, coach Tom Coughlin said.

"There's nothing (with the) bone, no vertebra or anything like that," Coughlin said.

"He's very sore, a little stiff today, so the reason all the tests were made is he continued to have the stiff neck and issues along those lines.

"We thought it was down in the trap (trapezius muscle), where it started from, so we wanted to rule everything out. All I got was there was nothing of the nature of any kind of vertebra or anything like that. It's all muscle."

Burress, who missed his second straight practice, has not been ruled out of Sunday's game against his former team, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Despite being suspended by the team for one game earlier in the campaign, Burress has hauled in 25 catches for a club-high 341 yards and three scores this season.

It was the best I could do while listening to iTunes with my 14-month old in my lap dropping off to sleep. :banned:TTFN
