Last year, I head a radio interview on the Lance McAlister show in Cincy with a guy who started a firm that sells insurance for FF players. The concept is simple -- you can take out policies for guys on your team/s that would kill your team's hopes if they had a season ending injury.
I didn't think much of it at the time as it seemed to be more of a gambling thing with guys looking at injuries like the futures market (e.g., Pennington is highly likely to get hurt again and his cost is low, so I'll roll the dice). After a season where I lost Deuce and Priest in 2 of 4 leagues and Bulger in 3 of 4, I am re-thinking it. Assuming you are confident you have a good shot at winning your league (you wouldn't be here if you didn't), could this at least recoup league costs should disaster strike with the downside being lower earnings if everyone stays healthy?
Has anyone done this before and if so, do you recall the name of the company? I can't remember the guys name or web site. Also, if you did, was the payout actually sent?
