2013 Player Spotlight Series

One of Footballguys best assets is our message board community. The Shark Pool is, in our view, the best place on the internet to discuss, debate and analyze all things fantasy football. In what's become an annual tradition, the Player Spotlight series is a key part of the preseason efforts. As many of you know, we consider the Player Spotlight threads the permanent record for analyzing the fantasy prospects of the player in question. This year, we plan to publish more than 140 offensive spotlights covering the vast majority of expected skill position starters.

As always we will post a list of players to be discussed each week. Those threads will remain open for the entire preseason, and should be a central point to discuss expectations for the player in question. Importantly, analysis done in the first week of posting will be part of the permanent record in two ways. 1) At the end of the week, we will tally the projections into a consensus. 2) We will select a number of pull quotes from forum contributors who make a compelling statement or observation. Both the projections and pull quotes will be part of a published article on the main website.

Thread Topic: LeSean McCoy, RB, Philadelphia Eagles

Each article will include:

  • Detailed viewpoint from a Footballguys staff member
  • Highlighted member commentary from the message board threads
  • FBG Projections
  • Consensus Member Projections

The Rules

In order for this thread to provide maximum value, we ask that you follow a few simple guidelines:

  • Focus commentary on the player (or players) in question, and your expectations for said player (or players)
  • Back up your expectations in whatever manner you deem appropriate; avoid posts that simply say "I hate him" or "He's the best"
  • Avoid redundancies or ... this should be about incremental analysis or debate

While not a requirement, we strongly encourage you to provide your own projections for the player (players):

Projections should include:

  • For QBs: Attempts, Completions, Passing Yards, Passing TDs, Ints, Rush Attempts, Rush Yards, Rush TDs
  • For RBs: Rushes, Rushing Yards, Rush TDs, Receptions, Receiving Yards, Receiving TDs
  • For WRs & TEs: Receptions, Receiving Yards, Receiving TDs

Now let's get on with the conversation! We look forward to your contributions and let me offer a personal thanks in anticipation of the great debate and analysis.

Hard to imagine him not having a very productive year. High octane offense playing from behind...but Bryce Brown will get some touches.

260-1155-8

50-388-2

I think McCoy has a bounce back year. 2011 was definitely an aberration, but McCoy is too talented a runner and receiver not to get the lion's share of the carries. Like him a lot in PPR leagues.

250 car, 1100 yds rushing, 10 TD

55 rec, 425 rec yds, 1 TD

Love his chances for a big rushing season. Something like:

320-1,500-12

But not sure what to expect in the passing game. I will guess:

30-240-3

But would not be shocked if he ended up with almost double those numbers receiving. Such a big unknown there as we don't know what that part of Kelly's offense will look like.

Also, I think he gets a few more catches with Foles at QB but that he will have a higher YPC with Vick at QB due to Vick's speed holding DEs in check and giving Shady more space to run.

Love me some McCoy this year. Should get plenty of touches. Biggest worry for him is injuries.

290-1425-11 tds

45-380-4

He worries me this year. Injuries seem to be sneaking up on him. Concussions are no laughing matter. I don't see as many touches as the rest of you are predicting. He's never had over 275 carries in a year yet, and I just don't see it happening this year with the new regime.

Assuming he stays healthy 230/1035/8 40/300/3

I just don't think he will for some reason.

If he stays healthy I think he has a monster year, but the concussion scare me.

16 games I see 1400 rushing 500 receiving and 16 total Tds.

250 rush attempts / 1250 rush yards / 9 TD ; 60 receptions / 500 receiving yards ; 1 TD = 295 PPR ; 18.4 PPR PPG

Had him last year..

He worries me for this year

But I would draft him again

At the right price

Probably outside the top 10 I would feel most comfortable...

Can't predict injuries so, assuming health, there's really no reason to not think he doesn't do what he has done when healthy. Top 5-6 Rb in fantasy. He is very dynamic and will likely be used quite a bit.

He looked crazy good last night behind an Oline without Jason Peters. Chip Kelly's offense appears to be the real deal after two games, with Foles and Vick both able to charge down the field. I think Vick has been near perfect and is locked in as the starter at this point. Regardless, Shady is in for a lot of touches and big holes to run through. Career year in yardage-probably won't sniff his monster year of 20 TD's though.

288 rushes/4.9ypc= 1,411/10 TDs

70 receptions/8.5 ypr= 595/3TDs

348 FFP or RB#3 last year. Could see him being RB1 this season.
