It seems that any time someone mentions Randy Moss, inevitably it will come up that he "takes plays off" (who knows if this is still true, it's been several years since the "expose").
My question is, is this really terrible? Is it a bad thing that Moss conserves his energy on some plays, considering that the defense still has to commit players to him? If a player relies on speed and agility to make plays, is it really necessary to waste energy on plays to the other side?
I understand that run blocking is important, and passing plays can break down and Moss would be a great outlet play. But it seems to me that a lot of the plays that Randy Moss "took off", there was at least 1 defender right there with him and the play was on the other side of the field. Doesn't seem to hurt the team too much, IMO.
Thoughts?
