Playoff Kickers - Who ya got? (1 Viewer)

I don't spend that much time on the subject. But the next two weeks are for the money. I held on to David Akers despite getting a zero yesterday. All in anticipation of his two home games in a warm dome. After watching those ugly snow bowls, I don't want to be caught having to rely on the weather.

Anybody have some week 15/16 suggestions? tandems?

Gano is available in some leagues and has two home games coming up in what should be good conditions.....probably going to snag him in waivers and ride him next two weeks....for those that play in week 17, he is in a dome that week........

Alex Henery next week in the Metrodome versus the Vikes.
I like this as a one week call, but not so much at home the following week against Chicago. Remember yesterday's snow bowl in Philly? Limited playoff roster moves mean I have carry two kickers. This can be dicey.

Phill Dawson is red hot hitting his last 20 FGs. And SF does actually stall in the redzone plus their defense leads to more possessions.

Going with Tucker, in the done vs Detroit this week. At home vs NE week 16. Will be watching weather closely and will pick up a dome/warm weather kicker for backup just in case.

this coming week I think there are 5 games in a dome......this last week only two (NO and AZ?).....so sometimes getting a dome guy isn't that easy

I've been rolling with Feely but that hasn't really worked out the last couple of weeks. I'd like to go with Akers but he's been dreadful or Folk, but I doubt the Jets will move the ball at all vs Carolina. I'm thinking maybe Bironas (Dawson, Tucker etc not available).

Novak at Mile High?
Like the altitude, but scared that the Chargers will be in desperation comeback mode and going for 2 on every second half possession, let alone even try any FG's.
and I realize it doesn't mean much after a guy just booted a 64 yarder there but this will be a night game in DEN and it has been getting pretty damn cold out here after the sun goes down...
It looks like it's going to be 20-30 degrees warmer than this past Sunday

Not much out there for me. Dawson? Tucker? I wish.

But what about Forbath? Atlanta gives up the most points to kickers (for whatever that's worth), then he has the Cowboys at home week 16.

Leaning this way, but it also seems the Skins have just given up.

As someone who's had to endure Forbath all season in a non-waiver league, just...no

Dallas outlook a little windy - 10 to 15 mph - not that bad - does Dallas retract the roof usually in December?

I'll just throw this out there - in their last four games the Titans have allowed 56 FFP, or 14 ppg, to kickers (from FFT):

Opposing K / Team & Score / FG/FGA/XP/XPA/Stand Pts.

Steve Hauschka SEA 6 L 13-20 (a) 2 2 100.0% 2 2 8.0

Phil Dawson SF 7 L 17-31 (h) 1 1 100.0% 4 4 7.0

Greg Zuerlein STL 9 W 28-21 (a) 0 1 0.0% 3 3 3.0

Josh Scobee JAC 10 L 27-29 (h) 2 2 100.0% 3 3 9.0

Adam Vinatieri IND 11 L 27-30 (h) 3 3 100.0% 3 3 12.0

Sebastian Janikowski OAK 12 W 23-19 (a) 4 6 66.7% 1 1 13.0

Adam Vinatieri IND 13 L 14-22 (a) 5 5 100.0% 1 1 16.0

Matt Prater DEN 14 L 28-51 (a) 3 3 100.0% 6 6 15.0

Last 3 Weeks (12 to 14) 12 14 85.7% 8 8 44.0

I'd like to pick up Feely for this matchup against the Titans, based on that data set. But he missed on his only two FG attempts last week and has a couple of bad weeks in a row. And week 17 against Seattle is a bad matchup. I could always go back to the wire, but the warm weather and dome options will be very short by then.

Looking at the Dallas kicker Bailey, who's available on my wire. I'd also like to know if they close up the roof. If I get him, I'd use him for one week and thinking about Bironas for week 16 at the Jags.

49 degrees that day as a high. It's a late afternoon game. Roof will probably be closed.

Thanks for the info. Crosby should be money if Rodgers plays. Only risk is if Flynn stinks up the joint and Dallas jumps up early, not many FG opps for GB.

Wait, let me ask Jerry since he's in charge of everything.

I have Crosby who was MONEY last week. I sat him the week before for Walsh and that worked out well.

I'm not real excited about him even if Rogers comes back, because everyone scores on Dallas and it's usually tds.

There are several options on the wire that look attractive, Viniteri, Gano and Dawson.

I'm tempted to go Gano to offset Cam's TDs with an extra point but don't want to get too cute.

Any thoughts?

Been rolling with Sturgis lately and have been pretty happy. Pats D isn't stopping ANYBODY right now, and the Phins let Sturgis kick em from all over. Expecting another solid game... and he's available in a lot of leagues.

Should note, the Dolphins are fighting for the playoffs right now...

I've always liked Caleb. Not sure what caused his midseason problems, but he seems to be better now.

I swapped Henery out for Gould, then made one more swap to settle on Dawson. He's looked good the last 5 weeks nearly, averaging over 10 points/game in my league.

I'd like to get 12-15 out of my playoff kicker.

Crosby has been scoring in the single digits every single week since Rodgers went down. Last week he finally put up 11, but it was against Atlanta, the No. 1 matchup for FFPA vs kickers. He had 1 XP.

Consider what happened in Detroit: Flynn's noodle arm netted no TD drives, only 1 FGA, and Crosby was lucky to get 6. Now, that is a pretty nice floor, so I'll take that. On the one hand Dallas is giving up rushing yards and points (Gould had like 13 this past game vs them), on the negative side again there's Flynn. If I knew Rodgers definitely wasn't coming back Nelson's numbers would justify cutting him; there's no downfield game whatsoever here. Crosby doesn't make a whole lot more sense.

I just picked up Hartley @ Rams this week for Nugent. Other viable options: Crosby, Akers, Gano, and Henery.

jay feely got me elimnated in one league last week .. losing by less then 3 and your kicker misses a kick from inside 30!!!

are you kidding me? get your ### back to cold pizza on espn 2 ya bum...

that said jay probably goes 5 for 5 on kicks from 50 plus this week.

in the other 3 leagues i got left

akers in 2 leagues

and prater in another

I've run with Crosby all season, but am finally wavering on him. Was holding out to see if Rodgers got his ### back.

Dawson, Henery, Gano, Hartley all available. Leaning towards Dawson for next two weeks or maybe Henery this week, Dawson next week.

For those using hauschka it's suppose to be windy @giants. About 18mph winds. I am dropping him
I'm going to wait until Sunday to see if this is true before I drop Hauschka. Too risky to drop him this early in such a good matchup.

I'm going with Tucker this week unless there is info to suggest otherwise. He didn't produce many points last week, but at least they are playing in a dome against a team that gives up points.

I have the same scenario with Crosby. I sat him two weeks ago and went with Walsh and it worked out.

Played him last week and he was money! Not sure this week.

I picked up Dawson and have him starting right now. He's listed low on all the expert sites however.

Not sure why as he has had lots of attempts in the last 5 weeks and not missed. SF should move the ball.

They are playing in nice weather too.

Kickers are a crap shoot. Basically you have to try to guess what defense can slow down the offense in the red zone.

Dawson does have some nice long kicks so I get extra bonus for those.

Yep, I follow the experts to a degree but I have no idea why Dawson is ranked so low. Maybe stats on TB allowed field goals or something that I haven't looked up, BUT, as you say...- nice weather

- SF is a good team

- TB have a decent D

- Dawson isn't missing right now

- SF can stall on offence sometimes

I've dropped Crosby and put Dawson in.

I don't understand the enthusiasm for Henery. Looking at his game log, he never scores in double digits. I had Feely too but feels like I can't trust him now. My other options available are Akers, Bironas or Sturgis. I like the idea of Akers as my opponent has Stafford going Monday night but Akers has barely had a decent fantasy game all year and seems to miss pretty regularly. Sturgis misses a FG a game too it seems but his numbers have been good the last few weeks, yet he's in the 20's in every set of rankings I've looked at.

Actually, I guess Succop might be as good as any of them. He's out there too. Ugh.

Henery this week might actually make sense - IF Gerhart is out.

It already looks like Carlson will be out, and no Rudolph already, so there goes their TE game, which is important for them.

Cassel again, no Ponder.

No ADP, no Gerhart, and maybe Asiata starting and playing nearly all game and who knows he may be a talented runner but he could very well be lacking the blocking and receiving departments.

If all that comes together it could be a real bounty for the Eagles defense with available chances for Henery.

Yeah but it depends on your scoring I suppose. We get a point for XPs and 3 for FGs. If the Vikings get pummelled and the eagles just score TDs, that's not all that appealing.

Rolling with Tucker, Herman has him 6, Dodds 11. Could go Henrey 3 and 4th ranked by FBG

Hartley and Prater in the others hoping for double digits!
